^^^^

Probably tie into 1 & 2, and maybe, hopefully, intentionally ERASE 3 & 4.

I think Jai Courtney would be a good choice. Maybe just because I like the guy.

I mean ,I could care less with all these classic movies trying to keep their franchise alive years later with a random movie, except for Jurassic Park.... Jurassic Park is allowed to come back ( and it better be good)

eh....only Terminator that was good was #1. they've casted badly for 2 and 3, those kids were effing annoying and pathetic. And in salvation, that stupid russian kid? annoying as well. I don't know who the scruffy hipster guy is, but I doubt I'd like him.

I loved Salvation. It was an awesome action flick.

@pathogen

Anton Yelchin is a treasure. That guy is [frick]ing gifted. And Linda Hamilton was perfect in T2.

back when i used to post at SHH, before i got tired of the mods twattery over there, i thought boyd holbrook would have been a really good barry allen. courtney looks more heroic though, even though think he's kinda bland from what I've seen.

So is this another 'soft reboot' like Star Trek? If they're going to start it over, then they should go all the way. No ties to the other films and no Arnold.

Jai Courtney? The meat-headed jock douchebag that they tapped to play John McClane's son in A Good Day to Die Hard?

Seriously?

I have no idea who the other guy is, but I hope he lands the role. Courtney is so, so wrong for this part-- Reese should be wiry and thin (the guy is a resistance fighter in a post-apocalyptic future, not an all-American quarterback) and likable and human. I honestly have no idea what appeal filmmakers see in this guy; he was like a plank of wood in that Die Hard film. Douche-y wood.

I'm really hoping for the best from this film-- it seems like they're getting creative with the premise for the first time since James Cameron was behind the camera. If this turns out to be a bust, too... well, at least we'll always have our Terminator 2 Blu-Rays...

So how are they gonna make Arnie look like the old T800? Since they're scrapping T3 and Salvation. I mean, Arnold looks super old now.

Should not reboot the franchise. If it is to be rebooted it should be coming from James Cameron since it was his own vision. It would have been smart if they brought back Michael Beihn.

I just think the Terminator series should be left alone.

@SotoJuiceMan: "BTW, Salvation was the worst Terminator movie ever made. Hands down, the killer of the Terminator franchise."

I would have to disagree. In my opinion, Terminator 3 murdered this franchise in cold blood, LONG before Salvation could have its way with it.

Salvation was boring, misguided, and ultimately pointless... but T3 was genuinely, offensively stupid and an insulting backpedal from the entire thematic point of the first two films.

The first films were all about humanist ideas-- the capacity of the individual to achieve greatness, self-determinism ("no fate but what we make"), etc. But T3 suddenly flipped it all around-- now John Connor was only important because he was DESTINED to be important, but he couldn't take any actions that CONTRADICTED that destiny. Judgment Day was suddenly "inevitable", and the individual was transformed into a helpless cog in the inner workings of thunderous, unavoidable fate.

Also, the film was goofy and stupid as all hell. "Talk to the hand", the Elton John sunglasses, "She'll be back", the inflatable breasts... just one banal, lowest-common-denominator moment after another. It really is painful to watch.

And it's a lot worse than Salvation. Salvation made no logical sense, sure, but also didn't have enough going on in it to make you care one way or another. The film had virtually no stakes, no point, no emotional impact one way or another... it was the textbook definition of "filler". I don't see how anyone could stay mad at it-- I can barely even REMEMBER it half the time!

Jai Courtney annoys me. He sucked in A Good Day to Die Hard, and he sucked in Jack Reacher. So no, not him. Just his face looks too thick. Boyd Holbrook looks like Michael Behn as well.
