I thought this was a fun one...

Now for the spoilers...

  • The title will almost certainly NOT be TRON 2 or TR2N. Possibly something with a colon - TRON: ________.

  • The story takes place approximately 25 years after the original.

  • The movie starts in 1989. Kevin Flynn (Bridges) has created some of the world’s top selling games based on his Game Grid challenges in the first film, and has marketed the hell out of what he saw there (action figures, Recognizer night lights, yadda yadda yadda).

  • Flynn has a seven year old son named Sean.

  • Flynn disappears, leaving behind his son.

  • Alan Bradley (Boxleitner) takes over Flynn’s company (ENCOM).

  • Jump forward in time: Sean is now twenty something.

  • Alan Bradley has info that leads Sean to look for Flynn.

  • Search takes Sean to Flynn’s old arcade - mothballed.

  • Into the computer world goes Sean.

  • There’s a CLU character (Flynn’s computer alter-ego from the first film).

  • Flynn has programmed CLU to run around and make a better computer world, but CLU’s gone corrupt and is creating his own interpretation of that perfect world. This is why CLU (young Bridges) is being such a punk-ass in that Comic Con footage we saw.

  • CLU has it out for a kind of program called ISOs & wants to eradicate them.

  • The ISOs believe Sean Flynn is the one who will free them from CLU’s belligerence.

  • Somewhere in the computer world, the real Kevin Flynn is whizzing around in a classic Light Cycle. Will he help in the battle against CLU?

  • Light Jets have jet walls, too. Light Cycles versus Light Jets = Big Disc battle!

  • Bridges going all out for this role. Embracing it. Fans will go gaa gaa.

This sounds intriguing!
I can't wait to see Jeff back in the "driver's seat", so to speak.
;-)
I loved the original, and was a little hesitant when I heard the first news of the remake, but with most of the originals on board, and with the assistance of the incredibly talented Mr. Bridges, this sounds like a surefire hit to me!

... be nice Torque! This probably came out well before your time, but for the technology that was available when it first appeared, this movie was the "wave of the future" film of the eighties!
In fact, it was one of the first films to use an entirely "digital" environment for the background!
(You can probably only imagine what conditions the actors had to work with!)

Well, as one who can REMEMBER seeing the original on the big screen (yes, I'm old(er)), I'm looking forward to the sequel. The 'spoilers' have definately piqued my curiosity...

I wonder where Tron is going to come in on this.

He IS supposed to be monitoring the system, right?

I really don't know about this, I loved Tron but I was bored during some parts while watching it. I mean I get excited seeing they are making Tron 2 but then I start thinking and remember being bored some (many) parts of it, so I don't know how to feel about this.

Guess I'm excited about it, at least to see how they manage to make the visuals have that retro look, but still look modern.

I caught Tron on tv a month ago and although it was the shizzle for it's time, I have to agree that this is the "least fan demanded" sequel of all freaking time lol. The matrix sort of offered a whole new take on what we may see in a digital world. Tron seems so... well, geometric, blocks, sharp angles and neon! I'm sure it may be a cool flic but yea, I agree with grif, I hate when the start putting peoples offspring in movies. Mummy movies, Indiana Jones, etc. I dont care if he's 10 or 20. Leave the kids out!

I did just find out there is going to be a Lost Planet movie, based on the video game. Schweet!

They forgot to mention the dynamite ending where Flynn & Father battle it out with a crazed Master Chief. Luckily they're aided by Marcus Fenix. The last thing you see is the chainsaw bayonet cutting through Chief like he was Gus Rethwisch, in Running Man. In the end, the Land of Hyrule is saved and The Princess with it.

Jeff Bridges plays a confused 50 something that remembers when it was just a ball bouncing off of a paddle that didn't even look like a paddle. "What's wrong with kids these days?", he says, right before the Master Chief tags him with a sticky grenade.

Hey, I actually LIKED 'Krull' (call it a childhood weakness)! 'Remo Williams' however is something that just SCREAMS sequel (good call, grif!). I'm surprised that no one hasn't jumped all over that (either in a sequel or reboot) - Chun is HYSTERICAL, and they've got an entire sieres of material ('The Destroyer' novels) to pull from!

...but if you want to talk about REALLY bad films, I have a copy of 'The Fantastic Four' (the ORIGINAL one that never got released!) on high-quality VHS! Once you've seen it, you'll understand WHY it was never released!!!
