In the last few years we have only heard rumors relating to a Sin City 2 script that is being written, well one may very well exist but it will NOT be produced by The Weinstein Company.

Troublemaker Studios, Robert Rodriguez's production house will still produce the film.

No official statement on what studio will distribute the film but Universal Studios has been tossed around as a number 1 contender.

The original Sin City was a box office smash raking in over $158 million world wide in box office receipts. The movie was made for under 40 million, combining these two elements creates success.

I read a book about the Weinf#cks..they come across as slavering, obnoxious, tyranical, greedy bastards so [frick] em!..But i do want a new Sin City! So hopefully whatever studio picks it up dont ruin it

This may actually turn out to be good news, people! It sounds to me, from what I've been reading, these guys were not interested AT ALL with moving forward for a sequal! Now with the rights free, and Rodriguez having more control, he can showcase the screenplay around and hopefully get some studio backing to proceed further even quicker!
Everyone, collectively cross your fingers!!

The Weinsteins' methods are dubious at best. But they get results.

Frankly, I think we were lucky the first Sin City turned out so well. And that was mostly due to Robert Rodriguez's hard work. So as long as he is still attached, I'm not gonna worry.
