SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME May Introduce A Different Take On Chameleon, But What About The Sinister Six?

It sounds like Aladdin star Numan Acar is indeed playing a new take on Chameleon in Spider-Man: Far From Home, while one of the movie's producers weighs in on the possible formation of the Sinister Six...

Quite some time ago, we learned that Numan Acar had been cast in Spider-Man: Far From Home as "Dimitri." As you might imagine, fans immediately started speculating about the possibility of him playing classic Marvel villain Chameleon, and while director Jon Watts wouldn't confirm that, he certainly seemed to allude to it during a recent interview.

"Well, Dmitri in the film works for Nick Fury and I think anyone who works for Nick Fury, they certainly have a mysterious past," the filmmaker teased. "We're not specifically saying that he's...but we're not not saying." Honestly, it's hard to imagine him not playing a new take on the character here, and like Mac Gargan in Spider-Man: Homecoming, this could serve as his origin story!

The hope is that the movie will continue to introduce Spider-Man villains so the Sinister Six forms in the third instalment of the Marvel Studios franchise, but when executive producer Eric Carroll was asked about that, he made it clear it's not something they're necessarily planning...right now.

"I don't know some of these plans for what's going forward. I do know that, obviously, getting someone like Jake to do a role like Beck is something we definitely think sets some really fun things up. But as to specifics, right now, I think everyone thinks we're dodging these questions -- and I especially don't want to speak to Sony's plans -- but we kind of take these movies one at a time. If we have that right idea, I think that's something audiences would love for sure. I do think it's something people have been wanting for a long time. So, I can't imagine it's not somebody's dream project? But it's not something we're specifically building to at the moment."

In other words, it sounds like the door is open for the villainous team to appear, but Marvel Studios is taking things one movie at a time (which they really have to given the nature of their deal with Sony Pictures). Still, it's easy enough to see which bad guys could ultimately make up the Six!

Far From Home
trailer along with some hi-res screenshots!

Avenge The Fallen

Iron Man is dead and that's hit Peter Parker hard. Still decked out in the Iron Spider suit from his last two appearances, it seems as if he's both struggling with living up to his mentor's legacy and deciding whether having that costume makes him the "new" Iron Man.

Further playing into that is the fact that Nick Fury is trying to recruit the wall-crawler but teaming up with him, surprisingly, doesn't interest Peter Parker in the least (look in the background during this conversation and you'll see a wrestling poster naming "Crusher Hogan").

Still, he catches up to him eventually and it's hard not to wonder why the former S.H.I.E.L.D Director seems so anxious to recruit the Friendly, Neighbourhood superhero. Does he want to keep an eye on the kid in Tony Stark's absence or is he up to something a little more sinister? We'll have to wait and see but it's at this point we get a huge reveal...

The Marvel Multiverse

Nick Fury is working alongside "Mr. Beck" and reveals that the Snap ripped a hole in reality and brought Mysterio to our Earth. Peter Parker dubs the idea of alternate realities "the Multiverse," a concept which will be all too familiar to fans of the comic books. Now, this revelation is obviously a game-changer for the MCU moving forward but should we buy into it?

Bear in mind that Mysterio is a well-known con-man in the comic books and he could easily fabricate this story for reasons which are currently unknown. After all, pretending that he's come from another Earth to chase down those Elementals puts him in a unique, potentially powerful position - particularly if he's the only "expert" capable of stopping these monsters.

Last Hero Standing

Thor is off world and Captain Marvel is elsewhere, so Nick Fury has decided to recruit Spider-Man. There are any number of other heroes who are still on Earth that he could have turned to, so something tells me that he and Maria Hill have chosen the wall-crawler for a reason.

It's possible that, in the MCU, Richard and Mary Parker were S.H.I.E.L.D. Agents and Fury feels like he now needs to keep an eye on the youngster. Alternatively, those theories that this is actually The Chameleon in disguise could also pan out, especially if the Sinister Six are secretly assembling in the shadows after Spidey managed to take down The Vulture.

Either way, it's clear that Spider-Man is stepping up in the MCU in a big way.

The Elementals

In this trailer, we get a much closer at Molten Man, Hydro-Man, and Sandman (?) and it's fair to say that they don't bear much of a resemblance to their comic book counterparts. Instead, they're far more monstrous and appear to hail from Mysterio's world. Fury seems keen to show Peter just how dangerous they are and, if you look carefully, you'll notice that he's actually wearing Tony's sunglasses!

Chances are we'll get plenty of nods to Tony in Far From Home and it's clear that the world is in mourning for the fallen hero. The question is, do they know what became of Captain America?

Peter Parker's Secret

Peter Parker probably needs to start being a little more careful with his secret identity because despite the fact he's been given that stealth suit by Nick Fury, it seems as if MJ has managed to figure out that he's Spider-Man (who has now shown up on two field trips while Peter has been M.I.A).

Mysterio is also made privy to who is beneath Spider-Man's mask and that could really come back to bite the hero, especially if Beck winds up joining the Sinister Six alongside The Vulture and Mac Gargan (assuming he becomes the Scorpion). Either way, there's clearly more than meets the eye to Far From Home than this trailer lets on and Marvel Studios may very well be misleading us.

Although, given the way characters like The Mandarin and Talos have been handled, perhaps Beck won't be outed as a villain at all!

So best lineup of the Sinister Six would be:

Vulture
Scorpion
Mysterio
Doc Ock
Chameleon
Shocker

@Nightwing1015 - switch out Shocker for Kraven The Hunter

@noahthegrand - Nawww, Shocker needs some redemption after being wasted in Homecoming. One gauntlet? C'mon.

@soberchimera - But do replace Chameleon with Kraven or a halfway decent Rhino.

It would be awesome if that’s where they’re heading for the third movie. Kind of bums me Sony has input but it’ll be interesting to see what happens with Amy Pascal moving to Universal.

So is Fury just a terrible judge of character or is he hiring these villains on purpose? First Hydra and now the Sinister Six?

@DonDave - 🤔
LongMayHeReign

@DonDave - Well, Hydra was in place before Fury was in a position of power in Shield so I don't blame him for that. But this would be all on him if he let these villains gain ground on his watch.

I actually like this. Its a nice new take on him. He's already steeped in the espionage game working for Fury and I assume he will be a new guy that Fury recruits. Its like Nat and Clint were in his inner circle and now maybe Dmitri is one of his boys now; close lieutenants of sorts.

Hope we finally see this obviously

What if he IS Nick Fury?
LongMayHeReign
LongMayHeReign - 5/8/2019, 11:19 AM
@Unites - This is the theory that I am leaning towards, it just seems to easy for the real Fury to believe Beck when we all know Beck is playing him and Peter.

@LongMayHeReign - Yeah, indeed. Maybe they made some Skrull-serum to inject him?

Hopefully Kraven is a member of MCU Sinister 6.

@MCUKnight11 - i would love Kraven but i prefer solo film with him and maybe his family too. Either way he should definitely be in a film sooner or later so dealers choice ...

@knocturnalzen10 - They'd probably turn Kraven into some assassin. Can't imagine they'd have a guy who's killed every animal and now wants Spider-Man.

knocturnalzen10 - 5/8/2019, 11:37 AM
@Kevwebsz - you think they'd do that :/ ? that would suck a bit , even in the comics he's hunting and just put down lizard .... it was a bit unrealistic for his speed but that's one of his main characteristic trait

Sounds like Spider-Man 3 will introduce Doc Ock - who gathers the previously established MCU villains to from the Sinister 6?

This seems like where we're heading, imho

It makes sense that some bad guys would have started as shield, military or CIA. So cool.
