SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING 2 Update - Could The New "Femme Fatale" Female Lead Be Jessica Drew?

That Hashtag Show has shared an update on their recent scoop relating the the new female lead character for the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel. The initial report claimed that the studio was looking for "an International European in her 20's" to play a new "femme fatale female lead."

This information combined with previously leaked audition videos led to speculation that the film could be introducing a European take on Gwen Stacy, but now it seems Jessica Drew, a.k.a Spider-Woman, might be a more likely possibility.

According to THS's sources, the role that was originally described as a "femme fatale" is also going to be "a Bond-girl type international agent." As fans of the character will know, Drew started out as an Agent of Hydra before switching sides to S.H.I.E.L.D., so she could definitely fit this description.

Just speculation for now, of course, but this would be a great opportunity for Sony/Marvel to introduce Jessica Drew to the MCU, and spin the webs for Spider-Woman moving forward.

What do you guys think?

I am fine with this if it means Jessica Drew finally gets her time to shine.

Jessica Drew makes more sense. I liked Homecoming a ****ton, but I hope Homecoming 2 is more along the lines of Spidey 2 level (not saying it has to be like Spidey 2) and less Homecoming level.

@Brave - Agreed. Homecoming gets shat on a little too much in my opinion. I thought it was very good if not great.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - Sames! Homecoming was a solid non origin-origin movie. It really lays the groundwork. And it's silly how everyone is upset about the changes they made, but we've already gotten that spidey twice. This version was refreshing, and by the time we get to the third movie, Peter will have grown as a character

@Brave - what made homecoming and spider-man 2 successful in my opinion were the grounded stakes in peter's relationship with the city and his fellow students, etc. i don't mind involving shield, i just hope it doesn't get toooo out there, like ultimate spider-man compared to the amazing spider-man of the 90's. i already feel like involving him in infinity war so soon is pushing it but i think it will be a successful incorporation, given what they did with civil war.
