Famed director Spike Lee recently made waves with his critically acclaimed film BlacKkKlansman, but it looks like he won't be lending his talents to a potential Nightwatch movie for Sony.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Lee denied reports that he was set to helm the Spider-Man spin-off, simply saying "Nah" when asked whether he had plans to helm a solo film based on the Marvel Comics hero.
The last time we heard Spike Lee's name mentioned in connection to Sony's Nightwatch, was via a report that suggested the Do the Right Thing director was a lock for the project, and that he would be working with a script from Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker.
While this is undoubtedly a set back for the movie, that doesn't mean a Nightwatch film is no longer in the cards. And with the recent success of Venom, Sony likely isn't ready to pull the plug on another potential success just yet.
