Smallville’s Clark Kent will Never Wear the Suit?!!

"It would be the end of the show because that would be when Smallville would end and Superman would begin." - Al Gough

Clark Kent has always been against it, although he wears the red and blue colors all the time.

And Smallville co-creators Al Gough and Miles Millar confesses that we will never see Tom Welling wear the Superman suit. At least not while he’s doing Smallville.

“It would be the end of the show because that would be when Smallville would end and Superman would begin,” Gough said

“It’s always been Clark Kent becoming the hero we all know him to become. It was never our intention to put him in the suit, as we always said, unless it was the last moment of the last episode of the series. Now, with the feature film out, we’re steering clear of it.”

There also won’t be a Lois-and-Clark romance either, because *frown* you guessed it, “film franchise restrictions”. I guess I can live with the two of them having a “romantic comedy rapport”. Better that than having Clark always coming away alone and lonely.

Well There it is, now it makes more sense of what we will see in the series finale...
Clark Wearing the suit when Smallville ends and Superman Begins. Makes sense...
I have mentioned before that my vision for the series finale for the last scene, would be Clark standing on the top of the daily planet wearing his suit, overseeing metropolis and flying away into the camera and, "THE END"... I figure thats a good way for Smallville to go, What do you think?...

I think should end smallville with a movie called "Superman begins" and then continue from there with a new film franchise.

As I said before on a million other post. WB is a bunch of Dumb asses. They are afraid of people being confused between film and series continuity.

Yeah. But I'm pretty sure that Gough and Millar are not involved with the show as much anymore. So who knows. Also as for the Lois and Clark romance, there gonna do it. Its inevitably. They have already kissed like 4 times in the show. Also they are crushing on each other now. so...

Stop posting the things that Gough said years ago as if they are news, when it comes to the current behind the scenes issues of Smallville the guy is a nobody.

Al & Miles have been gone for the entire season, as is the "No flights. No tights" rule that they had. The new producers have said time and time again that though they will avoid the tights, flights is still an option. Also, with Al & Miles gone from the show, Clark & Lois' relationship has taken a drastic step forward.

As of season 7 Clark just liked to wear Red and Blue.. since Season 8 began, he's decided to create seperate identities. He dresses up in a shirt and tie to go work at the daily planet and when he goes on patrol, he dons the red jacket and blue shirt. It's just one step closer to the suit. I highly doubt we'll see him wear the Superman suit on a weekly basis but I'm certain we'll see it in the series finale.

WB are acting like a bunch of dumbasses to be honest. They refuse to allow Batman and Wonderwoman (probably even Green Lantern) because they have movies in production. They won't let Bart Allen use his codename of Flash, instead he's called Impulse. They keep restricting Clark & Lois, and a whole bunch of other bull. It would never hurt the film franchise if Bruce Wayne appeared on Smallville. It would boost Smallville's ratings. It would definetly be nice to see a Smallville Diana before the movie comes out so people could get more familiar with her character, but again.. The WB is run by idiots.

yes, Harrison is right. Impulse is a origanl DC charcter created in the 90s. And his real name is bart allan. Google him. When he got older he became the new flash, but he just died like a year ago.

Who in their right mind would get the movie and the show confused with each other????

And another thing, I know Gough and Miller are the creators of the show, but THEY LEFT!!!!!

Meaning the new writers make up the direction of the show!!!

I'm guessing when Chloe dies, and with her dying breath, she's gonna be the one to call him "SuperMan." or "her Superman." That's probably why they've kept her around this long! (That, and she's a cutie! Purrrrrrrr.) lol jk

Since everyone is familiar with this franchise, they should just allow the television actors to transition into the film franchises. Bet you Lex and Lana will definately be back, when offered their millions to participate. :P

SMALLVILLES cool, but the writing no where near as good as it used to be, but the Dc Universe cameo's make up for that!!! Can't wait to see ZATANNA!!!! : D

I GOT A QUESTION 4 YA FANBOYS!!! If everyone knows CLARK without the glasses, how are they not all gonna say, hey its SUPER CLARK, nice suit!!! lol, an if LEX knows CLARK'S secret its like WOW SUPERMAN your my ex best mate CLARK!!! : ) Oh well lol, dang SUPERGIRL needs her own spin off series!!! ; )
CaptainAmerica87
CaptainAmerica87 - 3/25/2009, 12:21 AM
Well it only makes perfect sense that Smallville would be over since he would be becoming Superman.
HarrisonBergeron
HarrisonBergeron - 3/25/2009, 12:49 AM
The glasses issue is not restricted solely to Smallville, that is a suspension of (dis)belief that has always been attached to Superman. I think that SV will attempt to explain it though. My guess is that Zatana will have some hand in allowing Clark to disguise himself with nothing but a quick hair combing ans some glasses, if not her, then some other similar outside source.

I am confident that Smallville's Lex is dead. My prediction is that if he comes back it will be a clone created as part of Project Ares, and will not have the knowledge of Veritas that was gained well after Ares, thus he won't have any idea that Clark is actually a super person.

Laura Vandervoort (sp?) was supposed to get her own spinoff, but it didn't happen. Now she has been cast in something called "V", I think it stands for Visitors, but I haven't looked it up. I think it might be comic related.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 3/25/2009, 2:07 AM
V is a old WARNER BROTHERS sci fi tv show!!! Cool, but doesn't need remaking?!? WARNERS ffs use the budget an do something good like = LOSH series or modern time L.E.G.I.O.N do something original that hasn't been done before on tv!!! V Remake = Lame! Even worst Vandervoorts doing this crap when she could be doing that SUPERGIRL series!!! Oh yeah, thanks HB for the info!!! ; )

theFACE - 3/25/2009, 4:04 AM
Vandervoort in V you say, it may end up being crap, but if she's in it then i'm game. as for the whole suit issue, i dont really care if he doesn't wear it, it's still a good show, i enjoy it.

AND FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DONT LIKE IT, why the hell do you even read the article in the first place if you dont like the show, and why bother posting a comment, it's pointless so get bent.

Slifer151 - 3/25/2009, 4:14 AM
It'd be nice to see Welling in the suit at least once, if it has to be when Smallville ends then so be it. But with a series that's gone on much longer than anyone anticipated and given so much to the Superman mythos, staying pretty true to the roots and giving us a solid tail of Clark Kent's journey, I think you have to have some sort of crowning finale, and a shot if him in the suit finally accepting his true destiny would be best bar-none.
ReikoLJ
ReikoLJ - 3/25/2009, 4:24 AM
They should ditch it now and start a 'Metropolis' show with him ACTUALLY becoming him. Lets all erase Lois and Clark from our memories :D
theFACE
theFACE - 3/25/2009, 4:32 AM
it would be nice to see them go with a metropolis kinda show, but i doubt welling would do it, it wouldn't surprise me if he felt it was time to do something else or on alarger scale perhaps.

Does anyone think he could be Superman in a real movie?
offg
offg - 3/25/2009, 5:34 AM
I think Welling would do well in a Superman movie. People already have an attachment from watching him on the show. For the people that have never seen the show I think they will still see the honest traits that he has and are needed to play a character like Superman, much like Christopehr Reeves had. Not to play the Welling vs. Routh game because I respected Routh's portrayal, but he was playing Christopher Reeves as Superman/Clark Kent and Welling had played the chararter as himself, his own way which people have followed.

I'm voting for a new Superman series, starring Tom Welling. The hell with "no tights, no flights", I wanna see him accept the mantle!
OriginalPhysco
OriginalPhysco - 3/25/2009, 6:57 AM
I think they should call the season finale, Super. Because that is when he gets the name Superman and wears the tights. And it could be in the whole episode.

Stop posting ancient news from people who have nothing to do with the show anymore. I thought this was an up to date site, apparently they didn't get the memo of Gough leaving Smallville while back.
MarkCassidy
MarkCassidy - 3/25/2009, 7:07 AM
Welling will never be in a Superman cinema released movie because for every fan of his and SV there is someone who downright detests them! No studio would take a chance with what would essentially be a SV movie.
LastSon1027
LastSon1027 - 3/25/2009, 7:18 AM
I think that this article from gough and millar is worthless. You are aware they have no say in what happens on Smallville anymore? They left the show at the end of season 7. So the bullshit rules they had left with them. If the new creators want to put Clark in a suit it will be there decision, of course I don't think they ever will. And if you listen to ass backward logic of gough and millar then smallville was over in season 4. The introduction of Lois is no different than the suit. Much like the suit lois is apart of metropolis/superman lore not smallville legend. Simply put millar and gough started a great thing but they would have run it in the ground had they stayed any longer due to their narrow minded ideas of no flights no tights. I'm glad they are gone.

How does this chics articles always get posted on first page when they are old and useless?
