Today, Sunday 17th 2010 here in the U.K. Zack Snyder gave his first interview on the subject of his upcoming new movie about Superman.

Superman director Zack Snyder may RECAST Brandon Routh as the man of steel-after being impressed by the fans' love of the Christopher Reeve lookalike.
Warner Bros. Studios originally demanded that the next Superman film, due out in 2012, would have an all-new cast after they were underwhelmed by Superman Returns weak box office take.

But Zack revealed that Brandon WILL be considered for the role after he saw an online fan campaign to have the 31 year-old star reinstated.

"I know!" he told The News Of The World in his first interview since landing the gig. "I didn't realize there was such a groundswell."

Zack also revealed that he is due to start work on the blockbuster after he finishes his publicity tour for
Legend Of The Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hool, based on a series of hit childrens books about talking owls.

I had to type this out, as to see the video you need to visit the website ( www.notw.co.uk) but it's a pay to read site and as much as I love Supes..I ain't paying.

So, there you have it. It's not much, but then-again, could be HUGE news. Seems that Routh is still in with a shot! Then again..if he's that interested as to what is said on the net, surely he's also seen all the buzz about Welling also. Who knows?

Interesting find! :) After watching the 200th episode of Smallville, Welling is far more deserving of an audition that Routh IMO.

Its worded weirdly BUT this article is saying that Routh IS getting a screen test?

Gotta bring ROUTH back!

^^^ [frick]ing EPIC Masterpiece! ^^^

NO to WELLING EVER! Horrible actor and he can't still play Clark [frick]ing Kent in the 10 years he's played him!

To much SMALLVILLE baggage too! : D

If not ROUTH, CAVILL or YEOMAN!!!

I'm not in the habit of lying first of all. Here's the web address if you'd like to see for yourself.

notw.co.uk. I was as shocked to see this little snippet of an article in a national English newspaper than most of you. Being a Supes fan; the picture, (even if it was a small one) of Brandon jumped out at me. That's how I noticed the article. I copied it verbatim..so blame the actual reporter for his word usage.

Robbie Collin is the film critic for this paper.

And just for you Ajax, I liked Rouths performance..however, I'm a die hard Tom Welling fan..so I'd have nothing to gain from just bringing some tibbit of news to you guys. (thanks for the bash though) ;)

@ajax, I came straight home from work to try and see it..and looked under 'Video's at the top of the page..it says that it's a pay to read site..as is with nearly all the british papers on line these days. Even if I did pay my £1 for 24 hours..I couldn't paste in the link because you's not be able to see it. I've done a search on Google to see if it's possible to find this article elsewhere but alas, no.

Die hard fan : a fan who wins AND loses with their team.

@LEEE777 Why do you hate Welling so much. He plays Clark Kent EXACTLY like he is suppose to and EXACTLY how the character is written! (GO WATCH HOMECOMING AND SEE WHAT I MEAN!) Why do you even bother watching Smallville if you just bash it all the time. Moron! I like Routh, but he doesn't play Superman, he plays Christopher Reeve's Superman. Not original at all. Plus, I don't know anyone who wants him anyway. WELLING OR SOMEONE ELSE!!!!!! Also, remember who won the Poll on Routh or Welling playing SUPERMAN. Oh yeah, that was WELLING! and he won on every other website that ran that poll too!!

@JoshW You're right sir about that!

routh over welling any day.

i watched the highlights of episode 200 of smallville.

i admit the clark in the lift with glasses & coat was alright for tv.

but not the big screen, you cast welling as superman its straight to dvd for the man of steel in the u.k.

What a [frick]ing joke! I smell BS.

Besides, the overwhelming online fan support for Welling trumps ANY for Routh. I did a FB search and found about 650 people interested in Routh, 500 for Joey "the meatball" Megalodon and under 50 for Cavill and Hamm compared to 4000+ for Welling and Durance (zero for Hammer, just sayin').

MJPETTY7 @ I was probably one of the biggest die hard fans and been watching it from the very start!

Unlike most I see how the shows gone total tits up and most of the magics gone!

That went when he moved to METROPOLIS and Doomsday (their version lol) totally turned it round and it all went downhill!

All the original writers left that did make it magic, its now only a shadow of its former self!

As for Welling, he could play a farm boy great but he sucks at playing a superhero, every week proves that dude!

HE'S BEYOND CARDBOARD.

DEADPOOL is right!

Real shame but Welling should have stayed in SMALLVILLE.

Anyways it wont be Routh or Welling.

I really hope they lose Darkseid and bring back Lexie and the original writers, want that magic again!

How can anyone that praises Routh's acting be taken serious when criticizing Welling for being cardboard?!

The Smallville/Welling hatred is beginning to sound like Routhbootists sour grapes.

jusme6
jusme6 - 10/17/2010, 3:10 PM
He's not seriously considering Routh is he? I hope he's just recognizing the Routh-booters and giving them a shout-out.

@Ajax: Quit flipping out over nothing (notice that you are the ONLY one flipping out). This article was not directed at you so quit taking it personal. You should be thanking Oceans for posting this stuff or else you would have never heard of it. Don't try to tell her what journalism is as if you know what you're talking about. She got some info and posted it. Do you have something better to read? Obviously not. So get your head out of your ass and take some deep breaths. Go take some "private time" to work out all that frustration. You'll thank me later.

Personally while I love Wellings proformace, I think Routh did a decent job, not as great as Christopher Reeve, but good enough. Plus the reason why Routh did'ent go to his full potential was because he was suppost to immitate Christopher Reeve.

YourMomNaked - 10/17/2010, 3:18 PM
@Xenix...because he's a joke! "If not Routh then Cavill, if not Cavill then Semen." WTF?!

I wish some editor would move this to MAIN so we can get a debunk! LMFAO!

@Ajax

the article is true cause i read it today

but i dont trust the News of the World. the newspaper is same newspaper as "The Sun" i know this cause im from the UK. remember how "The Sun" is reliable about film news i.e. "Eddie Murphy been casted as The Riddler" lol.

News of the World and The Sun is a big unreliable paper. i remember they accuse a few people for been a terrorist on the paper but when they found out its not truth they end up saying sorry in small print in the same paper.
LEEE777
LEEE777 - 10/17/2010, 3:28 PM
LOL ROUTH's a billon times better than WELLING... that is all!

MJPETTY7 @ I men't when the series moved to METROPOLIS lol and I saw that episode, one episode doesn't make him the big screen Superman lol.

It was better than the normal sh1t we get thrown at, I enjoyed it too!

I feel 4 u tho, once I was all for Welling in the early years, the show and the direction it went in totally ruined Welling's image as Superman.

XENIX @ Lol, 10 years of baggage or a 2hour movie of a little baggage that can be ignored lol.

Anyway I'm all for an UNKNOWN too!

P.S. I would luv to see a SMALLVILLE movie though too, to tie up all the series hopefully with all the original writers back and LEX!

Actully, you know I'm begining to question the reliablity and truth of this article. MJPETTY7 is right when he said that most of all polls ever done about Routh VS Welling have had Welling as the winner. It's highly unlikely Snyder is gonna overlook that. You you know, I think this article might just be a Routh fan wanting people to think false things. As I said in another comment, I support both Routh and Welling, but really I think this is a false and unreliable article. Also Jazzman has a huge point when he says "News of the World" is untrustable. Oceandeep, I'm sorry but as of now I've lost all trust in you, because now I don't know if your telling the truth. First you using a unreliable and untrusted source, and your litterally spitting it in the face of Welling fans. Were all Comic Book Fans, and we should all be allies, not at war bickering who should play who and stuff. Because in the end you'll find your wrong. The only true rivals are Trekkies and Star Wars Fans. Those two sides hate each other. Which is wierd because I'm both a Star Wars Fan and a bit of a Trekkie.
jazzman
jazzman - 10/17/2010, 3:34 PM
this is the problem in the article they called him "Christopher Reeve lookalike" thats a big mistake right there. he never should of been a Christopher Reeve lookalike but his own character as the "Man of Steel".

every actor before Brandon Routh played their own version of Superman/Clark Kent. im not a support of Tom Welling as Superman when Smallville is done thats it for him as the character.

i rather a fresh new actor who is playing Superman/Clark Kent instead of a actor who playing a look-a-like of another actor.

Now you see, what I don't get. (Most) of you wanna shoot the messenger. *shrug* And here I was, sat at work when this caught my eye. (don't worry, I was on my lunch break) I thought...well since I love the site..love the people that write and contribute to it..and knowing that most of the people not in the U.K would like to see/read this..I'll post it. Little did I know that I would be bashed for doing so. I'm dumbfounded by this reaction. Sure, I half expected the Routh 'haters' to not like it..and the cries for Welling would come through loud and clear (as they always do) but to pooh-pooh the article and say I'd made it up..just because I couldn't bring the link..even when explained that, even if I did pay for the site, you'd not be able to see it. Not to mention the fact that I don't have a scanner in-which to scan and play 'show&tell' with it has hurt me greatly.
I read ALL the stuff on this site when it comes to Superman..in ALL his guises. Yet, when I read something I don't like, or is not to my taste I don't feel compelled to 'have a go' at the postee.
I don;t post many comments for fear of being ridiculed. When I do..I get comments like " Are you a girl" what the hell my gender got to do with it? I have every right to voice my opinion as the next person..and believe me some of you like to voice it alot!!
I'm just playing the game of 'fan' and in that vain, thought I'd share. maybe next time..I'll keep it to myself.

my heart felt thanks for those that stood in my corner. I greatly appreciated it.
@ superkalkickass, thanks for scanning and posting the link. I'll repost it here.

The question of whether it's true or not....it's on video (on the web page) from Snyder himself..so what do you think?

I think you may have all actually succeeded in scaring away from ever posting anything again. *sigh*
