Marvel Studios' Thor: The Dark World surpassed yesterday's expectations of an $82 million opening with an estimated $86.11M three-day domestic haul. This is $20 million/31 percent higher than the first film's opening back in May 2011, being about the same jump Iron Man 2 made from it's first film. The sequel also scored another $94M overseas, bringing it's Int.'l total to $240.9M and total worldwide cume to an impressive $327M. The Dark World is sure to be number one in America next weekend, with no competition heading it's way until the November 22nd release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. It seems guaranteed that the sequel will pass $200M domestic and at least $550M worldwide; but when it's all said and done, how much do you think Thor 2 will make worldwide by the end of it's theatrical run? Sound off in the comments below!

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all. Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Christopher Eccleston, Anthony Hopkins as Odin and many more, the film is in theaters NOW!

If only it crossed the $90M mark domestically. $327M worldwide so far is still excellent.

@ blackjack

I think they did give a tease in Cap 2

The part Darcy said she called Shield but they not answering, giving a hint out that something crazy is going to happen to shield in Cap 2

My Demands for Thor 3:
1. I want to see an Epic along the line of LOTR, time to actually focus on a great story
2. Allow the director to immerse in their vision douse the humor
3. Flesh out Lady Sif(if she doesn't get Wonder Woman role) more along with Warriors 3 & Heimdel
4. No more sympathetic Loki
5. The Enchantress & the Executioner
6. Hela, Surtur, Valkaries

Amen!

My favorite CBM of the year. That said, I'm more impressed with it's international take than it's domestic. Domestically I've never seen Thor going very far, internationally however that's a different story. It will likely pass up its predecessor's international gross sometime later this week.

Really disappointing. Portman and Dennings are cringe inducing. Why are they even in it?

It felt like a romantic comedy. This is the romance novel version of Thor

The end credit scene sets up Thor for The Avengers for now he is on Earth and easily available for Shield.
