The studio is currently keeping Alan's role in the sequel a secret. The film's general plot is under wraps as well.

Alan Tudyk is joining John Malkovich, Frances McDormand and Patrick Dempsey as human newbies on this fighting giant robot franchies.

Tudyk is a veteran of fan-favorite Joss Whedon's shows "Firefly" and "Dollhouse," Alan has a recurring role on ABC's "V" and recently starred opposite Dermot Mulroney in the pilot for NBC's proposed remake of "The Rockford Files."

He's been seen bigscreen films in "3:10 to Yuma," "Knocked Up" and "Dodgeball," and most recently toplined "Tucker & Dale vs. Evil," which won the Audience Award at this year's SXSW Film Festival. Next for Tudyk will be starring opposite Michael Sheen and Maria Bello in Shawn Ku's school shooting drama "Beautiful Boy."

"Transformers 3" hits theaters July 1, 2011.

Tudyk is repped by The Gersh Agency and Thruline Entertainment.

Great addition! So far so good. Now if Bay can hold back on his suckiness, we should be golden!

OMG! Tudyk is awesome. Maybe Shia and Megans characters get killed of in the opening scene and Alans character becomes the star. Then Transformers 3 could grow up to be a good movie!

True that Ror, I watched that show and then saw the movie, so that was rough. He was the man!! Well cool, having Pirate Steve negates the Dempsey taint that is going to plague this movie.

just what this movie about giant alien robots fighting a perpetual war needs......MORE HUMANS!!!!!! they need to subtract humans and focus on the robots, not vice versa.

As much as I like Tudyk, I still serioulsy doubt I will be wasting my time and money on Transformers.

I think maybe those Devastator nards just finished my Transfomer movie watching once and for all.

No kidding. After coming to love Firefly I really did not see that coming.

Can you guy see Tudyk doing his "This Land" thing from Serenity with DinoBots? That would be hilarious!

gtrman@ ...and what you dislike Whedon for, I like him for it. I had the pit in my stomach the rest of the show after Wash died too and questioned why they had to kill him off, but realized that is what a good movie does. It is not all happy happy, especially when you are fighting reavers. Some shock factor impacts the viewers. It added a realism and made a stronger impact on me that they did do that. Without that happening, it would have been a typical "everyone lives happily ever after" feeling and that isn't real life, especially when it comes to battle. I applaud Whedon for making that decision...as much as it sucked. :P

What, Frances McDormand is in Transformers 3? And Alan Tudyk? I really like McDormand, and Tudyk is genius. But Transformers...

Damn, wasn't raping Barton Fink enough...?

Killing Wash is what separates Whedon from 99% of other Hollywood directors. He was arguably the most popular charter in the ensemble after Mal..and even then its debatable! The guy has balls and he doesn't treat the audience like imbeciles, I'm [frick]ing delighted he is in charge of Avengers!
