Thanks to kidbizkit for the heads up, we have our first look at what appears to be the first poster for the upcoming Transformers: Dark of the Moon which is set to be released in 3D on July 1, 2011.

And here is what is currently believed to the synopsis for the Michael Bay directed movie which also stars Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Turturro, Alan Tudyk, Ken Jeong, Patrick Dempsey, and John Malkovich:

The Autobots, led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009’s Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There’s new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime "Transformers" character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.

What do you think of the poster? Does Shockwave look as good as you were hoping for? Is "Be Afraid Of The Dark" one of the lamest taglines for a movie ever!? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

I think the Autobots and Decepticons should team up and go after Michael Bay, determined to avenge 2009's Revenge of the Fallen!

I don't like to judge movies before they come out but I found Revenge of the Fallen to be so disappointing. I can't wait to get a Transformers movie that does not have Bay as its director. Bring on Unicorn and Hot Rod!

@ SYMBIOTEJOKER If you read the original Budiansky comics, Shockwave always had his own agenda and even Megatron feared leaving him behind his back.

Nice find Josh. But there will be no excitement from me for this whatsoever. If it gets like 5 stars I might go see it!

I prob will see it (i just thought the films could have been better)lol and yeah i got the subtle starscream momments but it still didnt seem enough. It just seems like Megatron is always being put aside. We had to wait for him to be defrosted, then we have the fallen giving him orders, I just miss old Megs i guess :)

Looks great Josh! The tagline is okay but Soundwave looks pretty awesome regardless. Hoping Michael closes this franchise with a redemption from the last one.

I quite like the poster. The tagline is a bit strange/cliche/lame, but it works better than "Revenge is Coming," as distributed in the teaser poster for Revenge of the Fallen.

Thanks guys. :) To be honest, I couldnt really give a damn about this movie either and will most definitely not be heading to the cinema to check it out. As I did with the other two, I'll wait until they're under a tenner on blu-ray. I enjoyed the last two (brainless but fun IMO) but they were pretty forgettable!

WOW Im amazed this is a movie sight when most of all of u are clue less when it comes to knowing how movies are made.

You sit here and soley blame Michael Bay for the films.
You start by blaming the producers, then the screen writers and then Michael Bay.

Its the directors job to bring the screenplay to life not to write the screenplay/story.

I swear u guys sound so ignorant in your posts its sad.

None the less the film will be loved by the brainless masses and most of us will hate it.

even thou the chick is new, looks like Bay gave her the same outfits they were gonna have Fox wear. Honestly...i wanna party one time with Bay. I imagine it would tons of booze and blow an jus hot chicks everywhere, not cuz they like him but they know he will put them in his movie. Imagine all the bj's u can get being his friend?
