Quotes from Collider...

On The Problems With Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen:

"On the second movie we got burned. We had a writers strike, we had to agree on a story in three weeks, and then we knew they were going on strike. It was a [frick]ed scenario all the way around, it wasn’t fair to the writer, it wasn’t fair to me, it wasn’t fair to anybody. It was still an entertaining movie, but I think we failed on certain aspects. What we did with this movie is I think we have a much better script, and we got back to basics. I think there’s some really cool action on this movie, there’s some very cool conspiracy, there’s great robot stuff in this that people were missing in the second one, you’ve got great robot conflict. So I’m excited about this movie."

On How The New Movie Will Improve Upon The Mistakes Of The Last One:

"It’s more serious. I got rid of the dorky comedy, I mean we’ve got two little characters, that’s it, but the dorkiness is not there. Dork-free Transformers. It’s much more serious. It’s still entertaining, it’s big looking. I think it’s much more compelling, what we did, how we funneled our action, what we’ve got our characters doing, they’ve got a lot more to do. My take on this movie was that I wanted to make the fighting a lot more personal. In the past two movies the cavalry has always came in, this time the cavalry isn’t coming. It’s black hawk down, a small group; they’re [frick]ed. It makes it more intimate."

On Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's Character:

"She worked for the English embassy as kind of an assistant. And Sam Witwicky has been dumped, and I’m not going to tell you how they meet."

On John Malkovich's Character:

"He’s Shia’s boss. Its funny, I was talking to Shia and we were talking about character. He’s like, I was the one who saved the world, and I should be set up. And I’m like, Shia, there’s people who do heroic things all over the country, and they’re not set up, they’re back to their mundane life. And he’s like, no; I’d be working for the government. And I said, well let’s just say you’re not working for the government."

On The Chances Of This Being The Last Installment In The Franchise:

"There’s a couple of things that are left open. I think you’ll see some finality to this, you know we’ve made it very clear that when things die they die now. They’re not magically being brought back."

Transformers: Dark of the Moon is set to be released in 3D on July 1, 2011!

DCMF: Lol, thanks man - it was only that picture of Bay (which I knew wasnt article worthy on it's own) that convinced me to make the effort to put this together! :P The third movie is sounding better and better though.

I'm glad that he and Shia have acknowledged that the Second Movie was garbage. I think Bay can be a great movie maker, when he can be. Granted he has some controversial moments when it comes to racially insensitive characters(but those aren't his fault, its the writing). I think he would have done a much greater job with the GI Joe franchise, and those might have been hugely successful. I liked the first one, but it lacked too much from the Transformers view. Hopefully we get tons of them interacting with each other.

I think that the new girl (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley) is playing Carly. It would be cool if the movie takes place 10-15 years in the future and they get married and have a kid, like in the 80s cartoon.

Good to hear Bay admit the second movie was not to par. Also good to hear that Rosie isn't playing Mikela.

I am getting more hope for this one. I'm starting to get excited here.

Do NOT crossover Transformers and GI Joe. I don't care what they did with the comic books in the 80's.

EPIC FAIL!!!

This time the cavalry isn’t coming?!?!?! In ROTF, Prime was totally by himself fighting Megatron, Blackout and Starscream AND DIED!...and the other Autobots were a couple hundred feet away fighting...no one. In the 1st Transformers, Bumblebee was on Earth protecting Sam and every Decepticon that was featured in the film was on Earth...while all the other Autobots weren't even on Earth. So when he says, "this time the cavalry isn’t coming", does he mean someone is gonna be trapped in a dimension where no one can get to...lets hope it is Shia!!

This movie is looking better, and better, and better.

I'm taking a stand now; this will blow ROTF out of the water.

Dumped? Seriously? Sorry Bay, but dumped isn't gonna cut it. Here's a thought, have MIkaela be killed off-screen between the films and Sam emotionally broken from it. Then Carly will seem like a natural progression and not just randomly thrown in.

Regardless, I'm gonna see it.

Good update, I want to see characters such as Prowl, Hound, Sunstreaker (Sideswipes twin, Wheeljack,Brawn, Thundercracker & Skywarp to name a few I understand many robots can't be used but would like to see them, I respect M.Bay at least he admits to problems with last one I think this 3rd one will be very good because they are explaining more about their history, maybe one day we will see a Cybertron straight up movie. I luv the Transformers mythology just like I luv DC & Marvel. It is good to also have stuff liek Transformers, GI Joe, He-Man & Masters of the Universe, Thundercats, Voltron and others I really like to see good film interpretations come along :)

I have to give him credit for admitting that the last movie sucked ass in a roundabout way and wanting to fix its problems with this one. But I'm still far from convinced that he won't just Baygasm out half way through filming and give Unicron a [frick]ing flatulence problem or something.
Darkseidis
Darkseidis - 12/9/2010, 5:58 AM
Hopefully this one will be better than the last. Only problem I would have with that is if they make the best one, the last movie. Even though they would be ending things on a high note, I like the idea of this being a better installment and then continuing on to do more movies that focus more and more on the autobots alone.

"when things die they die now. They’re not magically being brought back."

Hmm... Characters that need to die: Shia, Shia's mom, Shia's dogs, Shia's roommate, John Turturro, Anthony Anderson, Skids, Mudflap, Wheelie, that microscope Decepticon, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese... Actually, y'know what? Just blow up the whole damn Earth. "Nuke the planet from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."

I like that they actually have the ship in this one. Seems like Bay actually is listening a little bit. I just hope its more about the bots and less about the people.
