Michael Bay Talks Transformers: Dark Of The Moon!

Hit the jump to check out the director's thoughts on the upcoming third installment of the Transformers series which he describes as 'epic' and on the movie's villain, Shockwave...

On how the third movie will be:

"I think it takes awhile to get it right. I think we did not want the third one to suck."

This time around, Bay said, "We worked extra hard" and struck upon "a better story." "It's epic and it happens in a city," he added. "It's more accessible because you recognize stuff — it's not in a desert. It's kind of like 'Black Hawk Down' with our small group of heroes in a city."

On why the second movie failed:

The problem with 2009's "Revenge of the Fallen," Bay once again pointed out, is that the writers' strike left the production hardly any time to nail down a script. The filmmakers found themselves essentially trying to create a story line in the edit room, rather than on the page before shooting began.

"The second one, we had a tough go," Bay told us. "It was a very, very tough thing to make a movie under those circumstances. It affected a lot of Hollywood at that time."

On the villain Shockwave:

"He's bad. He's got a much bigger gun [and is] a little bit more vicious."

On the possibilities of another continuation:

"It does have an end, yes. Because I am finished doing this."

With Shia LaBeouf, John Turturro, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson returning in the line of the cast as well as new additions including Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Patrick Dempsey, Transformers: Dark of the Moon is set to hit theaters in Real D 3D on July 1, later this year!

Shows how much he cares for the subject matter of his bread and butter.

It shouldn´t even happen in a city, it should happen in a city in an alien planet in the future.

hopefully TF 3 goes well. The most annoying part about the second to me were the plot holes that devastator could have walked through. With any luck they'll scrap the twins completely. God knows why 2 of the most pointless characters in the movie had that much screen time. They should have taken the twins out and given the others more screen time. especially sideswipe. I thought he would have a much bigger part since he was so prominent in thier opening sequence.

When it comes to Michael Bay movies, I'd rather have no plot at all and only explosions than have a plot that makes the movie excruciatingly difficult to watch (RotF).

I love Transformers!!! I love Bays BOOMS and fire and all that mess. I mean really its Transformers not much else to robots fighting. And yes I am a huge Transformers fan and know the source material but really you cant do a whole lot with 2hrs.

high hopes for this movie!
I like the Black Hawk Down approach,it's time for the Autobots alone to kick some major ass,Optimus Prime doesn't need an army of human soldiers,HE IS a f*cking army!
and Bay,do me a favor: kill that pathetic excuse of a Starscream,he is not worthy of that name

i'm done first one was great, part two did me dirty, the megatron i know doesn't bow down to anyone, optimus prime never needed a power up, as for shockwave he's one of megatron's most loyal soldier's next to soundwave. If anyone tried to take controll of the decpticons megatron would turn them into scrap metal. I'd rather watch the orginal transformer cartoon movie than another one of bay's go-bot movies

Good thing I have movie ideas of my own and they are actually nearly overwhelming. My story, VX Super Force, takes place in a new/fictional city. The city is under pressure by two new crime forces (one has mutant wolves and gangsters, the other has seven powerful members with a lot of robots coated in blue). There are only seven superheroes in this story and they are up against an army of baddies which is being led by an ancient enemy. I made it and it is in scripting process.

Any questions about it?

Hate all you want but the studio and Bay will laugh their way to the bank as the movie makes another $700 plus million. I love the movies. They are entertaining and bunch of people will see it as most people don't give a SHIT about the source material. Read your comics nerds! I want ORIGINAL stories that still capture the essence.

Idk I guess I enjoy Transformers a lil more than some other movies. Simply and ONLY because I do not know too much about the origin and background. I simply keep attending these pictures in the theater because I think that ordinary, everyday cars transforming into robots is pretty cool. I really like seeing the new transformers in new movies so I hope if he really is done, someone gives this franchise another shot!
