Variety broke the news yesterday that Transformers 3 would be coming out July 1, 2011. Well Michael Bay had this to say back to the studio:

Wait a Minute!

I said I was taking off a year from Transformers. Paramount made a mistake in dating Transformers 3 - they asked me on the phone - I said yes to July 4 - but for 2012 - whoops! Not 2011!!! That would mean I would have to start prep in September. No way. My brain needs a break from fighting robots.

When called for a comment from the studio the only comment to make it out of their mouth was "No Comment"

I think its cool for studios to release info about upcoming movie projects thats probably why half of us log onto this site. But like ComicBookMovie reader Logan-X sts "can the second one come out yet?" And to answer you logan-X, Hell yes it can but not untill later this summer. The studio is drumming up hype for the franchise but without seeing ROTF I dont know yet what to be hyped up about. Classic example here of the studio counting their chickens before they are hatched. You can bet your buts that there will be a cliffhanger in ROTF, but we dont know yet what it will be.

2012 is a better release date for Transformers 3. 2011 already has enough movies coming out to satisfy us.

Here's a plan. Get rid of Bay and have somebody else do the robots the way they were suppose to look for the 3rd one. I'm sorry but these robots look like insects in robot form. I don't mind as much them being different cars, planes, & stuff. I mean u do have to change with the times somewhat.
One thing I do have to say. Transformer fans have to be the most forgiving fans. They stripped done everything from the story all the way to the robots look. -Nuff said-

I'm going to comment to the guys bitching about changing the look of the robots from the cartoon. First, you do realize it was a cartoon, right? Anytime I see "live action" robots that look similar to the original animated Transformers, I think of the Power Rangers. The original version of the Transformers just wouldn't translate psychologically, to people watching, as the fast, agile robots that they need to be. It would be physically impossible for that much metal to move that fast. Plus, they really tried to make sense of where everything on the car actually goes after transformation. They didn't change the size and shape of things like they did in the cartoon (not counting the All-Spark). They spent a lot of time mapping all that stuff out for the movie. I love the old cartoon, but get real guys. Why not bitch about how they animate them in a really gay way in the new animated series? At least that's comparing apples to apples since it's the same medium.

Do something productive and eat a dick. I agree with Altrockfan. Also the Dinobots are stupid. Me Am Grimlock!!! I talk like Bizarro!! Me want to eat balls!!! I don't know why people love the Dinobots. They might be cool if they could combine, but then they'd just be another combiner ripoff of the Devastator. Hot Rod would be cool, possibly and Ultra Magnus, but the DinoBots blow. I'd rather see Wheeljack than the Dinobots, and Wheeljack is not cool.
