Patrick Warburton Responds To Reports That He's Set To Return As THE TICK

A continuation of the short-lived 2001 series is said to be in the works over at Amazon, and now original star Patrick Warburton has responded to these reports and whether he's really coming back.

It was revealed last month that Amazon were planning on giving the green light to a pilot episode of The Tick, resurrecting the 2001 series which lasted for only nine episodes but gained a huge cult following. Creator Ben Edlund would confirm these reports and even alluded to original star Patrick Warburton returning, and in a recent interview with Movie Web, the Ted star had this to say about the current status of the project. "I love The Tick. I’d love to do it again. I never would have thought I’d have the opportunity to do this again. I think it would be a blast to do it again. We’ll see what happens. One thing about The Tick, he is an insane character. I guess he doesn’t have to be 29 years old like Thor. He’ll be 50 battling evil. I’d love to see what Ben Edlund’s new vision for it is. I think it will be different. Perhaps a little darker and a little edgier. We’ll see what happens." While he did tell the site that he wasn't fully commited at this point and couldn't reveal too many specifics about how it's all coming together, Warburton did add: "I don’t know what is happening, but I would love to have something where we are really given a shot to make the show that we want to make." How do you guys feel about this possible return for The Tick

The Geek in me want to yell "Thor is over 2000 years old sir" even though I know what he means! lol

If Amazon reboots this show, I hope it turns into more of an Action Comedy like the animated seires and becomes less like a Superhero sitcom.

So much to love about this show. But at this moment my favorite thing is how thin Batmanuel's mask is. Brilliant.

@damntree, the live action was much like a watered down version of the cartoon. I preferred the cartoon, it was unbridled hilarity.

I would love to see this. Warburton is one of my favorite TV stars. He's hilarious on Rules of Engagement.

I think that pretty much confirms that they are at least in serious talks to bring back the show. Weird that of all the cancelled fox shows that Firefly has not been brought back yet. I am fine with that as I consider Serenity a masterpiece and some of the worst people I knew used the show's cancellation as the equivalent of someone mentioning the holocaust or comparing to Hitler during television show conversations.

"I am really enjoying the Walking Dead."

"Television has been terrible since Firefly was cancelled and that is YOUR fault for not watching it."

But I digress ...the Tick was an amazing cartoon and a pretty good live action hero parody show. Warburton was born to play that role. It is just weird that so many cancelled Fox shows have come back in one form or another: Family Guy, Futurama, Arrested Development, and now The Tick.

Keep your fingers crossed for Greg the Bunny on Hulu. 'A'ight blah'

Love the Tick. But if they are going to resurrect this show then all I ask is for 4 things:

Lots of ninjas
Man-eating Cow
Chainsaw Vigilante
and Chairface Chippendale

I loved the show..but i would suggest a minor change..

I want the adult comedic element in Kick Ass...put this on Cable only, give us swearing and hilarious violence...would be perfect match..

I loved this show when I was younger, I'm hoping they use the subversive names used in the comic....American Maid(Made) for example
