First Critics TV Spot For GOTHAM Hails The "Breathtaking" And "Stellar" New Series

"It's way better than Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," says one critic in this new TV spot for Gotham. Oh, calm down, we're only teasing! There is however plenty of praise heaped upon the Batman prequel series in this latest preview, and you can check it out in full after the jump.

Before there was Batman, there was GOTHAM. Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner? What did it take to navigate the multiple layers of corruption that secretly ruled Gotham City, the spawning ground of the world’s most iconic villains? And what circumstances created them – the larger-than-life personas who would become Catwoman, The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face and The Joker? GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told.

There's also some great new behind the scenes footage in the second video, while the first mostly resuses some familiar scenes from Gotham between the praise heaped upon it by critics so far. I actually do like it better than AOS. Not a fanboy.

Ben McKenzie, the guy who plays the Penguin, and Donal Logue are literally the only good things about this show.

The writing is horrible, especially from Barbara who is just terrible.

The potential is there. I like some parts, but major elements are just terrible. Like Alfred, who I think is more a villain in this than any Batman villain out there.

Lol I don't know what show these critics are watching. Stellar and breathtaking definitely don't describe Gotham. Adequate? Sure.

I wanted a better show. Batman gets crappie all the time because we either get the same ol or crap. This show could have shown Thomas and Martha alive for half a season. I would have liked to see the Waynes with other prominent families in the city. Bruce could have childhood friend (Hush). Gotham could actually show some criminals that don't require Bats (scarface, Zsaz the city is full of criminals that lack super powers and can easily be grounded.

This show had potential but it suffers from bad writing . This show wreaks FOX.I'm sure the sheeple will continue to watch and rave about how it's amazing. I will watch in hopes of a better show and to have crap to talk abt on Tuesdays at work.

This reminds me of when Green Lantern got a critics trailer. What fear was Bruce trying to overcome by listening to heavy metal?

@GodzillaKart

Having seen the second episode they definitely toned down the easter eggs. Now it's more just the return of said characters. The only real easter egg was yet another Penguin joke and a mention of a future character to appear in the show.

My only problem with this show is Harvey bullocks and Alfred's age. Won't they be too old when batman is like 30?

I also like this Alfred... mainly because it's Earth One Alfred. Earth One Alfred is an asshole but an asshole who cares. lol

Favorite bits so far have been him chastising Bruce for doing dangerous shit or creeping on people.

This show is good but Jada Pinkett is HORRIBLE!!! Her arrogant deep voice is borderline jokey and I want to laugh at every other line she has. And the writing for her is just terrible as well. I did like that her waiter got mangled. She deserved it for her atrocious acting. If that's what you want to call it...
