DC Universe (via IGN) has released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for the upcoming Harley Quinn animated series, and in addition to some interview clips with voice cast members such as Kaley Cuoco (Harley), Lake Bell (Poison Ivy) and Alan Tudyk, we get a new look at Miss Quinn and co. in action.

The new series wears its R-rating proudly on its sleeve, and this vid contains a bit of swearing (no F-bombs, but they will fly in the actual show) along with some brutal and bloody action as Harley sets out to make it very clear to Gotham's underworld that she's more than just "The Joker's girlfriend."

Harley Quinn will also feature Jim Rash as The Riddler, Ron Funches as King Shark, J.B. Smoove as Frank the Plant, Tony Hale as Dr. Psycho, Giancarlo Esposito as Lex Luthor, Christopher Meloni as Commissioner Gordon, Jacob Tremblay as Robin/Damian Wayne, and Diedrich Bader as Batman.

The adult animated series will premiere on the DC Universe streaming service in October.

@BlackBeltJones - Harley's Holiday is definitely in the top five of best episodes of all the animated Batman shows and movies.

Definitely gonna watch it, but I'm still struggling to wrap my head around Kaley Cuoco as Harley Quinn.

@tBHzHomer - I'm fine with her, I just wish she kept the character's Queens accent.

Please tell me there's gonna be a Wonder Woman/Harley Quinn team-up!

After watching The Boys I am so upset with how Titans season 1 turned out. The Boys is exactly how Titans should have went. Embrace the cheese with black comedy and tackle real world issues. Looking forward to this Harley show though. We need some more adult themed content set within the "positive" superhero world to remind us that the world isn't what the media portrays it. And behind the scenes it's a brutal fight between heroes and villains. I love that. That's why Daredevil was so great on Netflix along with The Punisher.

@tmp3 - Here's James Gunn's Suicide Squad Scrabble board.

Here's what fans are putting together on that board regarding the rest of the cast:

This was actually "liked" by Gunn.

@Battabing - This is actually a spectacular use of social media to tease your casting and enhance the experience for fans.

Gunn is a genius.

Love me some original Animated Harley... Don't know how this will go yet, but it has a good deal of talent involved.

I was expecting this show to be some cringey, Family Guy-esque show but it looks surprisingly endearing. A lot closer to The Venture Bros.

Also, the animation looks way smoother than the animation for the last few direct-to-video DC animated films.

The animation looks good, and the tone looks fun. But damn! Can I at least get a GLIMPSE of Catwoman! WTF!😹

That actually looks fun and the cast is great. Not necessarily the adult-targeted DC comics animated series I would've wished for as their next project (we're long overdue for another Superman cartoon), but it looks like it has merit.

God forbid they do a Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, or Aquaman series. Harley Quinn is an ancillary character at best.

It looks good for people that can muster up any positive feelings towards Nu52 Harley, I guess.
