The CW has released five new first-look promotional stills from the fifth season premiere of Supergirl, offering fresh shots of the core team and also providing us with an updated look at the Girl of Steel (Melissa Benoist) in her kickass new suit.

There's no synopsis just yet, but based on the photos, it looks like Kara will be getting her new suit pretty early on in the premiere and will be taking it on her latest mission with J'onn (David Harewood), Alex (Chyler Leigh), Brainy (Jesse Rath) and Dreamer (Nicole Maines).

Stay tuned for more Supergirl updates ahead of the season premiere on October 6th.

Season three saw Supergirl stop Reign and the other Worldkillers’ threat to humanity and our planet, and in the process, Kara was shocked to find her mother Alura alive and living in a salvaged Argo City that survived the destruction of Krypton. Reconnecting with her past caused Kara to realize that her true home is now here on Earth, where big changes are taking place for her and all of her friends in National City – and also, it appears, for a doppelganger in Russia! Season four promises to be full of surprises, action, adventure and lots of big revelations for Supergirl, Alex, James, J’onn, Lena and Brainy.

Supergirl features:
Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl
Mehcad Brooks as James 'Jimmy' Olsen/Guardian
Chyler Leigh as Alexandra 'Alex' Danvers
Jeremy Jordan as Winslow 'Winn' Schott
David Harewood as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter
Katie McGrath as Lena Luthor
Jesse Rath as Querl Dox/Brainiac 5
Sam Witwer as Ben Lockwood/Agent Liberty
Nicole Maines as Nia Nal/Dreamer
April Parker Jones as Colonel Haley
David Ajala as Manchester Black
Rhona Mitra as Mercy Graves
Robert Baker as Otis Graves
Erica Durance as Alura Zor-El
Jon Cryer as Lex Luthor

would make more sense from her to become superwoman and have the new suit AFTER superman dies in COIE?

After this past year, the second best show in the Arrowverse. Very much looking forward to season 5.

@NicolausCopernicus

Who says Superman will die in COIE? Was there a leak that said that?

I still feel like they need some more red in the midsection to balance it out. It just looks like blue pajamas with a belt. Going on the lines that are already in the suit... something like this:

It's not perfect, but it just feels more balanced. Superman needs some kind of "trunks", even if they are just red elements, and Supergirl's skirt was always a great bold splash of red. I understand that I'm clearly losing the battle here, but there are some ghosts that I refuse to give up.

Overall, I do like the construction of the suit, though. The element over the shield is interesting and vaguely alien and feminine, but it certainly works.

Nice pics of the current team. I hope Brainiac 5 also gets a new costume, there are plenty to use.

Seems the action is taking place at a museum or theatre.

BTW the titles of the other episodes have also been revealed.

Supergirl - Episode 5.01 - Event Horizon
Supergirl - Episode 5.02 - Stranger Beside Me
Supergirl - Episode 5.03 - Blurred Lines
Supergirl - Episode 5.04 - In Plain Sight

In fact the same has been with Batwoman and The Flash. Arrow's are always updated due to the showrunner sharing the titles, same with Legends. They can be found on the same link to that website.

What the hell is she wearing?
That looks terrible.

Is this some dumb response to privileged outrage?

@fadersdream - it’s a response to Canada being cold as shit. Same reason Arrow only did one reason with the sleeveless look.

I personally like it apart from the weird shoulder clips for the cape that they did for Superman as well
