AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. And Other ABC TV Shows Moved To Non-Canon "Marvel Legacy" Category On Disney+

While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn't available on Disney+ in the U.S., international versions of the streaming service have now moved that and other Marvel Television TV shows to a non-canon category...

There's been a lot of discussion about whether Marvel Television shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Daredevil, and Inhumans should be considered "canon" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The use of the Darkhold in WandaVision certainly went some way towards proving that those small screen properties won't have an impact on what we see play out in the movies or Disney+ moving forward, but the waters are definitely muddied when there are reports swirling about Charlie Cox playing Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home

Of course, Marvel Studios can use certain characters and actors, rebooting them for the MCU in the process, so we probably shouldn't read too much into those rumored plans for the Man Without Fear.

Something that does lend some weight to the argument that the projects overseen by Jeph Loeb aren't canon is the fact that on non-U.S. versions of Disney+, ABC shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, Runaways, and more have now been moved to a new "Marvel Legacy Movies and Series" collection.

That's also the home of non-MCU properties like Fox's X-Men and Fantastic Four movies, so common sense says that Marvel Studios does not consider those shows to be "official" parts of this shared world. That's really not overly surprising when Kevin Feige wasn't creatively involved. After all, why would he allow himself to be handcuffed by a cancelled TV series should he want to use something like the Darkhold or characters like Quake and Ghost Rider?

As much as I love Agents of Shield (and as much as I would like to see some of them appear in Secret Invasion) if this means we can see good versions of the Inhumans in the MCU someday then it’s worth it.

@TheUnworthyThor - The Inhumans series isn't tied to AoS and the stuff done on AoS was imo good. YMMV.

I have mixed feelings about this. I never watched Runaways, Inhumans, Helstrom or Cloak and Dagger so I don’t think I care if those aren’t canon. I stoped watching the Netflix shows after Daredevil’s third season and while I like most of those shows they barely if any had any connection to the MCU aside from a few name drops and references. I could sort of see those in their own universe but kind of ashame still. I’ve seen Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. up until Season 3 and those shows have more of a connection to the MCU movies as they do feature characters from the movies. I mean Nick Fury even appeared in two episodes of AOS and Jarvis played by the same actor made a cameo in Endgame so it’s kind of a shame that this is happening.
