AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Is Also Set To Leave Netflix Alongside Marvel Television's DEFENDERS Shows

Following the news that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the rest of Netflix's Marvel TV shows are leaving the streaming service, it's been confirmed that Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D will join them. Check it out...

Yesterday, we learned that DaredevilJessica JonesLuke CageIron FistThe Defenders, and The Punisher are all set to leave Netflix on March 1. Netflix's licensing deal with Disney has reached its end, meaning those "Netflix Originals" are now destined for either Hulu or Disney+.

While the latter is the most likely place for them internationally - where there is no Hulu and Disney+ has more adult content thanks to its "Star" service - we don't know what the plan is in the U.S. One possibility is that Disney could make some edits to the shows so they're a little more family-friendly. However, that's unlikely to be welcomed by fans and would almost certainly lead to backlash online.

Regardless, one show we probably can expect to see on Disney+ is Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as it's now been confirmed it will also leave Netflix on February 28, a day before the shows listed above.

While the characters known collectively as "The Defenders" were all part of shows produced by Netflix, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. originated on ABC, but it too was licensed out by Disney, so they're no doubt keen to now add it to Disney+ as another viewing option for Marvel fans (in the UK, however, every season can already be found on Disney+)

In related news, Deadline notes that "[Disney] is keeping mum about its distribution plans for the suite of series; they are expected to be announced the shows’ new streaming home soon." We'd expect a big announcement to be made in the coming weeks, especially now that this news is being reported by large, mainstream media outlets.

We'll keep you updated as we learn more!

Doesn't change anything for me (and I assume all of Europe), since it's been on Disney+ from the start. Same with Helstrom, Runaways, Cloak & Dagger and MODOK. Think they should make the Marvel section a bit more orderly though if more (non-MCU) shows join

@bkmeijer - Yup, AoS has been on D+ here in Germany for a while, same as pretty much every non-Netflix Marvel show from the MCU era.

@ManDeth - for streaming war crap yeah but they have largest movie collection people can get by renting from them if they still want them waiting 3 to 4 weeks for movies come in mail that is if stupid lazy people still use DVD players people can’t get everything on streaming and nothing lasts forever on streaming.,

Go someplace that have no WiFi dead zone those people are screwed they will need portable DVD player with them

@ManDeth - I’m surprised they haven’t opened up as an anctual digital distribution platform yet. Sure they have their originals but most of them aren’t very high quality and they don’t have legacy content like Disney or other platforms to really make being just a subscription service viable for that much longer. If I were them I’d try to pull an Apple TV Plus or Prime Video and add the ability to actually buy everything on top of the subscription otherwise they are going to keep bleeding as everyone and their mom pulls their content for their own service

@ManDeth - Squid Game was giant and Temple of the Dog will probably win the Oscar, so I doubt that

@dragon316 - DVD's are dying a slow death. More and more TV shows have either stopped making them or are not even bothering in the case of new shows.
ManDeth
ManDeth - 2/13/2022, 3:02 AM
@TheSuperMex - Because almost every major studio has their own streaming service which means they won't be getting their new movies and TV. Because of all the streaming services, they will have the least amount of new stuff and no access to major IPs. Wall Street knows the deal. Which is why their stock has lost over 40% of it's value since November 2021.

So much for you "Lol". Try to pay attention, kid.

@ManDeth - Lol They have stuff that people will watch for years and new stuff that blows up in popularity. They have been focusing more their original stuff than other IPs they don’t own.

@TheSuperMex - LOL! Your description is not one of a sustainable streaming service. It's more like one of many cable channels that throw out crappy original content. Maybe you (LOL) missed the part about their stock crash. That will leave them with less and less money to put into original content.

@dragon316 - WiFi not a factor for those that downloaded a digital copy of a Movie/TV not available on streaming service. I still have some DVDs of media that can't be found on a streaming service.

@THEREALPAPERKUT - Many of the stars of 2000's comic book TV shows have not done well after the shows ended. Some of them might have if they didn't spend more than 4 years of their youth playing one role then had to start over when a show ended in their mid 30s. Chloe Bennet is just 29 and has the ability to make the audience care about her characters. She should be in much higher demand.

I’m guessing AoS goes to “Marvel Legacy” and the Netflix shows (which are essentially R-rated) go to Hulu. There. Done. Easy-Peasy.

Defenders show? Did I miss something?

Of course I didn't. Because that wasn't the Defenders in anyway. They stole that name because heroes for hire sounds dumb and they couldn't use the Avengers name
