In light of the Sokovia Accords, and with Hydra obliterated, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been legitimatized again and no longer needs to operate in the shadows. Since the world presumes that Coulson is dead, the organization needed a new Director (Jason O’Mara) to be the face of the organization. Coulson finds himself back in the role as an agent and teamed with Mack (Henry Simmons), and together they are tasked with tracking down and confirming the presence of Enhanced people, aka Inhumans. They have been trying to track down and capture Daisy (Chloe Bennet), aka Quake, who has gone rogue in an attempt to atone for sins from the past. But with the world believing that Daisy is a dangerous outlaw who has taken down banks and bridges, the new Director has no qualms about taking her down for good. Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) is tasked with training specialist strike teams, and Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) have taken a big step forward in their relationship. But with Simmons’ new promotion as Special Advisor to the Director in Science and Technology, Fitz, as well as her former team members, finds it hard to confide in or trust her since she’s now the Director’s confidant.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. features:
Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson
Ming-Na Wen as Melinda May
Chloe Bennet as Daisy Johnson/Quake
Iain De Caestecker as Leo Fitz
Elizabeth Henstridge as Jemma Simmons
Henry Simmons as Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie
Natalia Cordova-Buckley as Elena "Yo-Yo" Rodriguez
Nick Blood as Lance Hunter

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns with an all-new episode January 26

@lemric - who was robin again?
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 1/19/2018, 9:34 PM
@RocknRolla - she was the daughter of the Inhuman from season 3 that gave Daisy the vision of Lincoln's death (she thought it was her's at the time). Daisy visits her in the final scene of season 3 to give her the robin her father had carved. And Robin is who Fitz visited after he found Enoch.

God damn that was a crazy awesome episode. Was pretty much on the edge of my seat most of the time. THIS, this is how you do a comic book show, heck a show period, ladies and gentlemen. This is the best of the best.

Where do I start? Another fantastic episode from SHIELD. It started to fill in some blanks, but many left. So essentially Robin's past is an alternate timeline? Also, are Fitz and Simmons Deke's parents??!?!?! Team SHIELD in the past changed their names, so perhaps Fitz changed his to Owen? And if Owen is dead, who was broadcasting those recordings to Virgil?

Yoyo, Mac, and Flint working together was great. And that scene where Yoyo goes through and takes out all the roaches was pure cinematic beauty, that was very well done. Fitz really did pack for any situation! Interested to see how Flint fits into whatever Robin told May.

Some pretty good jokes, I liked when Deke is just mind blown by the Zephyr and he comments that it must have been something to fly it (after learning Fitz and Simmons designed it), to which Fitz replies that he's just the engineer. "Yeah I guess that's cool." Lol. Nice to see Fitz and Simmons back together and geeking out over science.

Next week's episode looks pretty brutal, can't wait. Wonder what other clues are in Robin's drawings. Looking forward to more Kasius and Sinara, I guess them not having an overarching presence was kind of felt but it makes sense why they had a smaller role this episode.

@HeavyMetal4Life - grandparents maybe, but dont think ages would line up for parents. it was my first thought when it was said his dad built the machine to activate the monolith. only problem is that deke and his dad's last name is shaw. so unless it was changed to hide whose kid he was or his dad took his mother's name, it doesnt look like it
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 1/19/2018, 7:35 PM
@lemric - Well they mentioned that they changed their names, so they could have done that.

It just stood out to me. Deke's father designed the time portal, and Fitz created the schematics for it.
lemric
lemric - 1/19/2018, 7:36 PM
also i think the way flint factors in will be his connection to rock may allow him to either find the monolith pieces or recreate it using the piece they have.

would have loved to have seen yoyo's last stand with that kree axe

lemric - 1/19/2018, 7:37 PM
@HeavyMetal4Life - ah i missed that part where they mentioned they changed names. nice catch. then yea i think they are related. not only did dekes father build that machine, deke managed to rebuild the framework
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 1/19/2018, 7:41 PM
@lemric - AHH, very good point about the framework. Also, Deke mentions that he never forgives his father for his mom's death, and Fitz tells May in the past he is tired of hearing about how Jemma is going to die. There's definitely some sort of relationship I feel.

Perhaps we will get to see some more of what happened in the past as they piece together Robin's drawings and other material.

Yeah, perhaps Flint can track down the monolith.

@lemric - "Philip J Coulson, he can bring all the pieces together."

Robin must be talking about Flint!
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 1/19/2018, 8:56 PM
@lemric - Rewatching the episode, yeah Owen can't be Fitz because Voss says Own designed the time portal from schematics that he didn't design.

@HeavyMetal4Life - The only issue I have is the pacing for this season is very slow with very few SPLASH PAGES MOMENTS (as Feige would say).

This episode had YO-YOs roach kill, but by ep 8 of last season we had seen so many ghostrider shots that it pretty much felt cinematic and this season def. feels like they had their budgets slashed

I miss the one shot episodes of the first two seasons. I hate that they waste entire seasons on a single plot these days.
Zer0squad
Zer0squad - 1/19/2018, 9:49 PM
@rabid - You are outside your goddamn mind. The freak of the week episodes are what killed the shows ratings and turned so many people off in the first season. The show didn't start to shine until the episodes were more serialized after they could finally do the Hydra reveal.

rabid
rabid - 1/20/2018, 12:57 AM
@Zer0squad - They used to have writers that could balance a long arc with short stories. These days they're trapped in soap opera mode. It's such a turn off. If they weren't packaged with Hulu, their ratings would be in the crapper. I love the show, just wish they had writers with more skill, because I get tired of it halfway through the season, and there's no jumping on point for casual viewers.
Vigor

@rabid - Believe your opinion is in the minority. Their writers are excellent.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 1/20/2018, 6:58 AM
@Vigor - yeah, that's a minority opinion. The writers for SHIELD are indeed excellent. Live how theytheyve handled the show for the past 3 seasons.
rabid
rabid - 1/20/2018, 8:45 AM
@Vigor - By today's standards, yes they are excellent. By classic standards, no. Modern tv writers don't understand short story structure. They meander for months until the story is over because they can't craft it inside a classic framework.
