Theory on who Edward James Olmos could be in A.o.S.

Hi everyone. Here is my theory on who Edward James Olmos character could be in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel have announced that Edward James Olmos has joined the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as "Robert Gonzales".  Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb in a statement released today. "When Olmos first appears on our series, everyone will have to take notice--including our favorite Agents."

Now, like many of you, when I heard this I tried to do a quick web search of the character to find out who he is and nothing came up.  But there are 3 names in the Marvel database that end in "Gonzales".  One of the male character is a New York police officer who thinks that Spider-Man is a criminal and he goes by the name of Vincent Gonzales.

The other is Vincent's father David Gonzales.

Why is this important.  We all now know that Marvel Studios doesn't have a problem with tweaking characters origins and names a bit to fit into the grand picture or throw off fans.  Especially 3rd, 4th, and 5th tier characters that no one really knows and/or cares about.

Example:  J. August Richards as Mike Peterson a.k.a. Deathlok

I think Olmos's character will be one of these 2 characters and that this character will bridge the gap between A.o.S. and the Netflix series Heroes for Hire and Daredevil.  He will probably be more of the police chief than an officer, or a Government agent ordered to stop people with "special" powers.   Vincent's character has run ins with Spider-Man, but that can easily be swapped out for Daredevil and any of the Heroes for Hire characters.

In addition, could this character possibly make a small connection between the rumored Spider-Man cameos in Marvel movies?

Just a thought.

Not a bad idea. I could see them going with a anti-powers governor.

It I had to guess, it would be more likely to see him going after Inhumans (thus connecting him to Daisy and Raina) rather than the Hell's Kitchen heroes.

I thought about that, but it doesn't make sense that anyone really knows who the Inhumans are yet. Most people would probably think they are super powered beings. Maybe Olmos's character wants to register people with powers as weapons and that's how we get into Civil War.

Well, they are super powered beings. :P

But yeah, with the sudden rise of new powered beings (the Inhumans), there are bound to be more people trying to track them down, and I definitely see it helping to build up to Civil War with so many unregistered super powered people running around out there.

I'd like him to play The Mandarin.

Maybe he will be part of the kick off towards Civil War on AoS.
