Revealing Character Descriptions And Photos Released For Marvel's CLOAK & DAGGER TV Series

Marvel found success with The Runaways last year and now it's the turn of a couple of other young heroes to get the spotlight in Cloak & Dagger. Hit the jump to learn much more about the upcoming series.

It's become clear in recent years that while Marvel's TV shows are supposed to be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they pretty much stand apart from that every bit as much as Arrow and The Flash do from Justice League and Wonder Woman. Despite that, there's still plenty to enjoy about them, and Cloak & Dagger - which premieres on June 7th on Freeform - is shaping up to be...decent?

Now, a new batch of character images
have been released along with bios for each of them. Those reveal a lot of new details about the characters, not to mention the roles they'll be playing in the show.

Unfortunately, the two leads don't really bear much of a resemblance to their comic book counterparts here so fingers crossed that changes as the series progresses because those would be cool to see. To check them out, all you guys need to do is click on either one of the buttons below. Once you've done that, be sure to let us know your thoughts on these Cloak & Dagger details in the comments section.

Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph)

A young man who wanted nothing more than to prove he was fearless. But when everything he held close was taken away, life taught Tyrone to be afraid. Now older and more sheltered, Tyrone closes himself off. But when he meets a girl named Tandy, his life changes forever.

Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt)

A once-privileged little girl who watched as her family was destroyed by a disastrous storm that uprooted her life. Now in her late teens, an unexpected encounter with a boy named Tyrone sparks a life-changing event.

Detective Connors (J.D. Evermore)

A contradiction of a man, Connors embraces an intimidating persona that overcompensates for a secret he keeps close to the vest.

Liam (Carl Lundstedt)

A salt-of-the-earth townie. Liam operates as Tandy’s partner in crime while moonlighting as her boyfriend. But underneath this rough-around-the-edges appearance, Liam has big dreams. All of them include Tandy.

Melissa Bowen (Andrea Roth)

Melissa is the eternal optimist, despite struggling to adapt to her new existence. She’s complex and compromised, and often needs to file her edges, but her love for her daughter burns brightly outside.

Adina Johnson (Gloria Reuben)

Adina invests every aspect of her being into giving her son the life she believes he deserves. But she props up and protects Tyrone so much, she almost forgets to love him.

Otis Johnson (Miles Mussenden)

Otis trudges through his desk job to keep his family safe and happy, all while too-quietly mourning a loss. This working-class father does what he can to ensure his son Tyrone will grow up to be a man.

Brigid O’Reilly (Emma Lahana)

Detective Brigid O’Reilly is accustomed to working in a man’s world, but she isn’t looking to be “one of the guys”. Her New York sensibilities have hardened her from being too friendly or open, setting her apart from her Louisiana counterparts. Brigid believes in justice and doesn’t think that anyone should be above it, including other cops. Especially other cops…

Father Delgado (Jaime Zevallos)

Father Delgado is constantly seeking redemption in spite of the fact that he’s not sure he deserves it. As a school counselor and priest, Delgado is a rock for Ty. Oppressed by the collar, he leads more through words than example as he still struggles daily with the life he has chosen.

@Kevwebsz - I'd say next to none

@Kevwebsz - Characters from other shows? Basically none.

Characters from the movies? Basically none.

Characters from the comics who haven't been adapted into other shows yet? Probably fairly high. Marvel tends to have cameos and one-off Easter eggs in their shows, so it wouldn't surprise me if we saw Blackheart show up or something.

@Kucakingkai1991 - Haha, I forgot Lahana was in this. Definitely the perkiest cop in any of the Marvel shows. (Sorry, Clarke Peters, but you just didn't bring it like you did on the Wire.)

Hopefully this will be released on dvd like the Netflix MARVEL shows.
I don't do streaming services.

It does look good though.

There are two villains who could appear in the show: the first villain is the Maggia, the mob organisation who appear in Agent Carter and that in the comics was resposible to give Cloak and Dagger their powers and the second villain is Mister Negative(Martin Li) who is both a foe of Spider Man and also of Cloak and Dagger who was created in the same type of experiment by the Maggia which gave Cloak and Dagger their powers and has the ability to absorb and fire negative energy from his body.
