It looks like one of the villains Marc Spector will be facing-off against in the upcoming Disney+ Moon Knight series has been revealed.

French actor Gaspard Ulliel, who played a young Hannibal Lecter in 2007's Hannibal Rising, appears to have joined the ensemble as Anton Mogart, aka Midnight Man. The trades haven't confirmed Ulliel's casting, but the listing was plain to see on his official talent agency profile (it's since been amended).

In the comics, Mogart was a jewel thief who was driven insane after an encounter with Moon Knight left him hideously deformed. He took on the alias Midnight Man and joined forces with Bushman in an attempt to gain revenge, but was killed off soon after.

Ethan Hawke is set to play the primary antagonist, and Bushman now seems to be the most likely candidate. There are several other possibilities, however, including Crossfire, Black Spectre, and Jack Russell. If Marvel wanted to go down more supernatural route, there's Werewolf By Night, or maybe even Dracula.

Oscar Isaac is set to play the titular vigilante, and May Calamawy is also on board in an undisclosed role.

Marvel's Moon Knight has Cairo 678 director Mohamed Diab behind the camera, and we recently found out that the Disney+ series has also enlisted Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead (The Endless, Synchronic) to helm additional episodes. Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy; The Exorcist) will serve as showrunner, and is leading the show's writing team.

Plot details are still under wraps, but the small-screen adaptation is expected to stick pretty close to the basic premise of the comic, with Marc Spector, a highly skilled mercenary who has numerous alter-egos, channelling the power of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu to fight crime in LA.

A recent synopsis stated that "the action-adventure features a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. The multiple identities who live inside him are distinct characters who appear against a backdrop of Egyptian iconography."

Moon Knight commenced production in Budapest in March.

Just a note, Jack Russell is Werewolf by Night. This article gives the impression that they are different people.

I seriously doubt they're going to whitewash Bushman in this day and age. I think Hawke is either playing Sun King or Jack Russell.

Hey I just realized. You know a form of criticism with the mcu is how they keep killing off villains, meaning they can't return? Well that kinda makes this more of an interesting adaptation since moon knight usually kills off his villains.

In regards to the speculation of Ethan Hawke playing Bushmaster, I know that villains, for some reason, seem to often get a free-pass (see, Benedict Cumberbatch as Khan and Tom Hardy as Bane), but would Disney/Marvel really risk a potential controversy by having a black villain be played by a white guy?

Anyone know of a good storyline to read for Moon Knight? I've never read the books, so I'm looking for a good read to start at.
