MOON KNIGHT: Speculation Mounts That Hulk Might Appear After Mark Ruffalo Was Spotted In Budapest

Could we see Mark Ruffalo make an appearance in the upcoming Moon Knight Disney+ series? That's the theory doing the rounds online after the actor was photographed at the same hotel as star Oscar Isaac.

We know that Mark Ruffalo is set to reprise the role of Bruce Banner/The Hulk for the She-Hulk show, but could we also see him make his presence felt in another upcoming Disney+ series?

Moon Knight is currently filming in Budapest, and fan Dora Magyari managed to snap a couple of selfies which she's now shared to Instagram. The first was with Ruffalo, and then later on she posed for a photo with Oscar Isaac outside the very same hotel.

This doesn't confirm anything, of course, but we know that She-Hulk recently wrapped production in Atlanta, so unless Ruffalo is in Hungary for some other business and just happens to be staying at the same hotel as Isaac, there's a decent enough chance he is set to appear in the show in some capacity.

We still don't know a whole lot about Moon Knight (you can check out a leaked first look at Marc Spector here), but adding Banner to the mix would be one way to establish some connectivity to the wider MCU. A rumor recently did the rounds that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier's Emily VanCamp might also show up as Sharon Carter, but again, nothing has been confirmed.

Marvel's Moon Knight has Cairo 678 director Mohamed Diab behind the camera, and we recently found out that the Disney+ series has also enlisted Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead (The Endless, Synchronic) to helm additional episodes. Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy; The Exorcist) will serve as showrunner, and is leading the show's writing team.

Plot details are still under wraps, but the small-screen adaptation is expected to stick pretty close to the basic premise of the comic, with Marc Spector, a highly skilled mercenary who has numerous alter-egos, channelling the power of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu to fight crime in LA.

A recent synopsis stated that "the action-adventure features a complex vigilante who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. The multiple identities who live inside him are distinct characters who appear against a backdrop of Egyptian iconography."

I wonder how much more Hulk we are actually gonna get, it kinda feels like there isnt much more to do with the character aside from maybe doing Maestro as a variant version at some point

I mean, might not be. And I really don't get the need for him to be here. From banners perspective, moonknight is just a crazy vigilante. At best he'd probably be indifferent. Unless they're saying Marc is public about being a superhero, in which case we have a whole host of other problems with this.

@Origame - Well one possible justification for Banner (not the Hulk) being involved is the psychological aspect of the fact that both Bruce and Marc are dealing with identity disorders (albeit in different ways). I could see Bruce being there in an almost mentorship type of role (although I'm sure relatively briefly as it's not his show), with a kind of "I know what it's like to be two different people" or a "you have to learn to control the beast inside" kind of angle. They would just have to have a believable reason why these two would come into contact with each other and further how they would know each other's secret identity.

@StSteven - yeah but that's why I added "unless he's publicly recognized as moonknight", as in people know his identities. Otherwise Bruce isn't gonna know Moonknight as anything but a crazy person.

@Origame - Yeah, I gotcha. I don't think that they will go public at all with MK's personalities, so I think that it will be one of those "internal battles" kinda things (which I'm totally fine with because I don't think we've seen enough of that in the MCU so far anyway). So with that in mind, IF Bruce is involved (which I still highly doubt at this point), and IF Marc's secret identity is still secret, then the question is how did Bruce find out about it. Ehhh, just too many "if's" for me to buy into this just yet.

His bar becomes a successful franchise and is expanding it overseas.

@Vanillain - Still hate with the plethora of good Hulk stories, they're reducing him to a bartender with a withered arm...

The Hulk is gonna see him wildin', smack him once and tell him this:

Wouldn't be surprised if they made him in a sort of superhero liaison and thus is sent to talk/find Moon Knight

Presumably Bruce found a way to undo his "Professor Hulk" fusion thing, because having Banner as a permanently CGI character would limit his involvement in these Disney Plus shows I would have thought

Makes sense on a meta-level, since, before getting his own series, Moon Knight was a back-up story in Hulk mags.

Hallucination. They remember Budapest very differently.
