RUMOR: Is A New ULTIMATE ALLIANCE Game In Development?

Marvel has recently been stepping back into the realm of video games, more specifically into multiplatform console releases. In the past years they've announced a two Guardians of the Galaxy games, one a smaller adventure game from Telltale and the other a triple-A release from Eidos Montreal, a PS4-exclusive Spider-Man game, a Square Enix Avengers project, and the revival of the Marvel vs Capcom franchise in the form of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite. And now it seems there is a chance another new face may step into the ring in the form of an old favorite of Marvel fans: Ultimate Alliance.

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Marvel has recently registered or renewed several trademarks related to the Ultimate Alliance IP. While some may speculate this is related to the recent release of the remaster of the first two games for current-gen platforms last year, several of the trademarks have had activity as recently as earlier this month. In addition, in an interview with Marvel.com announcing the release, executive producer Mike Jones teased the possibility of a future installment being in the works. As to whether or not this speculation is true, it seems fans may have until E3 later this summer to see if a third installment, or possibly a reboot, is on the horizon for the long-dormant video game franchise.

So what do you think? Is there a chance one of Marvel's best gaming franchises making a return, or is it too good to be true? Is there another game you would like to see Marvel develop as they return to the major gaming arena? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!

If this is true, I hope it isn't limited to characters that Marvel Studios/Disney owns. The X-Men and Fantastic Four absolutely have to be in any kind of Ultimate Alliance game.

@InternalVitalty - through reading several articles over how the rights work for all these characters. Marvel owns the rights to use all their characters in animated format on tv and also in toys and video games. So x men can be used if I read the contracts correctly. This was about a year ago that I found these articles so things may have changed but I bet they use them.

I would love this! although Future Fight really scratches the itch for me...with so many downloads to add movie-relevant costumes and character behaviors, it feels like the next generation of this type of super-team game, but i loved both Alliance games and I'd buy a game system just to play it.

All I care about right now is the Spidey game and the Square Enix Avengers game. Everything else is just icing on the cake with the new direction of gaming Marvel is focusing on.

God I hope this is true, I love the first 2 games. While you're at it, make X-Men Legends 3! I know that won't happen, but I can dream.

Also, I NEED MORE INFO ON THE SPIDEY PS4 GAME!!
