As part of GameInformer's month-long featured coverage of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, the publication has released a brand new video showcasing gameplay from the upcomign action-RPG. The video features seven minutes of gameplay that highlight the opening chapters of the game.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order kicks off with the Guardians of the Galaxy in space on The Milano, which GameInformer calls "very MCU inspired." From the voiceovers to the character designs, much of what we see is inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe seen on the big screen. Star-Lord, for instance, has a lot of dance moves involved with his abilities, which is also inspired by the James Gunn-directed character.

The video highlights various playable characters, including Gamora, Rocket Raccoon and Groot (a combined character), and Drax. Jumping to chapter two, which is set on Earth, players will be introduced to an even larger pool of playable characters to choose from including members of The Avengers, X-Men, Inhumans and more. We're treated to gameplay of Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Storm, Hulk, and so many more. As previously reported, the roster of playable characters is well over two dozen.

In this new storyline, heroes and villains unite in a race across the Marvel Universe to find the Infinity Stones before Thanos and The Black Order use them to unleash cosmic chaos. From Avengers Tower to the X-Mansion and beyond, every stop on the dangerous quest to thwart Thanos results in unexpected collisions of fan-favorite characters and iconic locations. Get closer to the action by shifting the view to an over-the-shoulder "Heroic Camera" perspective—a series first that offers a more immersive way to play single-player or multiplayer on up to four systems. Play online*, offline via local wireless, or simply pass a Joy-Con controller to a friend, so they can join your team. With another pair of Joy-Con™ controllers (sold separately), four players can team up on one system! The drop-in/drop-out co-op possibilities let players create their own "Ultimate Alliance" at will.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will be released exclusively for Nintendo Switch on July 19, 2019.

@TheManWithoutFear - Man I got into that game right before it was shut down and has so much fun. Shame.

@Origame - Mostly the characters, their dialogue and their on-screen motions.

@MattIsForReal - no i know. That was just a joke about how the guys in the video kept saying it was mcu inspired.

Meh.

Don't know if the developers purposefully wanted this to be different than the previous games to make something more "original", but I think the gaming community has missed the old MUA/X-Men Legends design and style of gameplay.

Like others have said, this shouldn't be called MUA, as it doesn't feel like a game of the same series.
Until they give me that damn sequel with Galactus that was teased in MUA 1, I won't be satisfied. :(

Should of just kept the animation the same as 1 and 2, it's like when they changed EMH to the new disney avengers show.. they are all trying to cashgrab from the MCU

I say this as a big gamer and comic book fan: I’ve never understood the hype or love for MUA. I played the first two for the first time last year and was hugely disappointed. The sheer number of locations from the Marvel universe was cool, but the graphics were awful, the combat was BLAND AS HELL and the two games were ultimately very forgettable.

This one looks exactly the same— boring combat without any weight to it, just mashing down cloned goons as infinitum along with horrendous graphics that make it look like a shitty mobile phone game.

Nice to see the GotG/Inhumans get some love here, but otherwise this looks like an exceptionally mediocre game.

@PicolasCage - dude, both of those games came out over 10 years ago on previous generation platforms. They were great when they were released.

This new one does look really bad and too MCU inspired and a bit cartoonish.

@PicolasCage - well, crearly you are not a "big" gamer if you are complaining about the graphics from a game released on ps2 10 years ago... Its like an 5 years old playing the old mario after the switch ones "this is awful, he is a orange pixel, worst game of the year"
PicolasCage
PicolasCage - 5/11/2019, 1:08 PM
@four20smoke - it looks bad because it looks exactly like the old ones. They’re just not well-designed games, it has nothing to do with the age

@NoobNoob - what a [frick]ing idiotic comment. Okami was on the PS2 and still looks gorgeous. Windwaker was on the Gamecube and still looks great.

MUA *never* looked good.

Get out of here with your dumb trash.

@PicolasCage - im saying the old ones dont stand the test of time like many games of that era and coupling that to the fact that I would bot be surprised that playing a game that is very old would not be very appealing compared to the newer generation stuff.

That being said, this new one looks different but not by a lot and it certainly is not up to standard for new generation games. It is on the switch so....

@PicolasCage - Cel-shaded games generally stand up well to the test of time. Apples and oranges here by comparison. Jet Set Radio still stands up well for the same reason.

Plus mechanically, vastly different games too. You’re better off comparing MUA to something like Baldur’s Gate or one of those old top down dungeon crawlers.

Get at me when they make solo hero &/or non-Avengers team games like back in the day. Same goes for DC/WB games as well. No more all DC/Justice League games & no more Batman games for at least 10 years.

@TDKRnry88 - when was the last justice league game?

@Origame - Injustice 2.
Origame
Origame - 5/11/2019, 5:36 PM
@DTor91 - thats not really a justice league game though. The league disbanded in this universe and the teams involved are the regime and the resistance. I mean they technically reform the league at the end but thats just a quick reunion to stop brainiac.

I rarely play these games though I did play marvel vs Capcom with ultron and sigma. I know a lot of people disliked it but I thought it was pretty fun

Ok, I dont know what it is about this game, but it just doesnt have me excited. I [frick]ing adored the previous installments, they just had me so [frick]ing excited. But this just doesnt make me feel excited for it. Idk why, the gameplay here just doesnt feel like the gameplay I had for UA 1 or 2

@Redhood92 - as a side note, id love it if some film maker found some way to get a film released theatrically but only sell one ticket. That sounds like the ultimate challenge.
RedHood92
RedHood92 - 5/11/2019, 2:05 PM
@Origame - There was a movie called Man Down which starred Shia LaBeouf, It only sold for 1 person in the UK.

@Redhood92 - yeah but it got over 150,000 in world wide total. Im saying a single movie that has a wide enough release to make it considered a theatrical feature film yet only earning one ticket.
