After revealing that this would be the final week of filming on New Mutants, director Josh Boone returned to Instagram late last night with a series of posts announcing that his highly anticipated X-Men spinoff had indeed wrapped principal photography on time.

Stars Maisie Williams (Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane), Blu Hunt (Danielle Moonstar/Mirage), and Henry Zaga (Roberto da Costa/Sunspot) joined him shortly thereafter with posts of their own, bidding farewell to what seemed to be quite the enjoyable 60-day shoot.

The 20th Century Fox production is slated to release on April 13, 2018, so it shouldn't be too long now before we get our first official look at the team - and with Thor: Ragnarok just around the corner, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that the first teaser trailer might be attached to the upcoming Marvel blockbuster.

This must be easily the quickest filming for a comic book movie. Even shorter than GotG VOL.1 in 2013. Wow.

And everything has been mostly under wraps. Not a single leak.

It holds promise I think.

@NinnesMBC - it was a little longer than Deadpool's so I guess that gives us an idea of the scale of it.

@Ryguy88 - That is true as well, Deadpool finished like last week as well. Fox's X-Men projects are advancing at a good pace it seems. Maybe by the start of October we'll hear Dark Phoenix is done shooting. :P

@NinnesMBC - haha, maybe, theyre working at an assembly line pace now.

I was talking about the first Deadpool for shoot times though. Did part 2 finish? It started about 3 weeks before New Mutants so it would make sense.

@NinnesMBC - So is X23 in this or not? I thought New Mutants was supposed to be about X23 and the kids from Logan?

@NinnesMBC - It's new mutants like the comics, only no costumes and it's a horror movie… Whatever all that means

@SpideyQuad - From my understanding, them film revolves around them being in a detention facility or imprsioned.
It makes logical sense that they would have their costumes, as (a) the are being detained so are likely in prison uniforms (which now that I think it could be bright yellow and black) and (b) they haven't interacted with Xavier School, yet.

What I assume will happen, is that by the end of the film they will escape the prison and be accepted into Xaviers school and dawn their costumes. They will have bonded as a team throughout the film.

Do we know the rating of this movie?
Cause it seems "small" (hence why they did things quietly and this fast) so it could be an R-rated movie, considering it's supposed to be pseudo-horror(ish)
Hmmm....

Gotta feeling New Mutants will be one of those "came and went" movies. Not saying it won't be good, but there really is no hype for it.

@KWilly - very true. Maybe as we near towards release they'll ramp up marketing and awareness.
