THE NEW MUTANTS Honest Trailer Definitely Doesn't Shy Away From Skewering Fox's Final X-MEN Film

The New Mutants was the first major film to be released in theaters during the pandemic, but it didn't exactly set the box office on fire. Instead, Fox's final X-Men film earned a lowly $45.9 million on an estimated budget of between $65 - $80 million. Whether it can make up the money on Digital and home media remains to be seen, but there's still no word on a Disney+ debut.

It's bound to end up there eventually, of course, and the only reason it probably hasn't up until this point is because contractual obligations mean it had to receive that initial theatrical run.

Now the film is available to purchase, our friends at Screen Junkies have shared their hilarious Honest Trailer which certainly doesn't shy away from skewering the Marvel Comics adaptation. Like the rest of us, they loved Anya Taylor Joy's Magik, but The Queen's Gambit star can do no wrong!

No one really emerges unscathed, however, and the only reason their respective careers haven't been damaged by The New Mutants is because everyone knew it would be a disaster beforehand. Love or hate the film, this Honest Trailer should definitely get a smile out of you as it's undeniably funny.

Boone may not walk away unscathed in the long run...

It gets kinda funny bad in the third act (especially when that bear comes in), but everything beforehand is a [frick]ing SLOG. It's every bit an unfortunate way to end this series as Dark Phoenix was.

On to the MCU....

My only concern is that the X-Men weren't absorbed into the MCU sooner. We've fully entered the Woke Era and I can only imagine what Kevin Feige has in store for the merry mutants. Even as diverse as the X-Men are, and have been for decades, I'm sure The Mouse will have to virtue signal by screwing with at least half the characters (the straight, white half).

I had high hopes, even though I probably shouldn't have, for The New Mutants. I'm still going to buy/watch it, at some point, when I get some spare time. Back during Claremont's days, my favorite comic waffled back and forth between Uncanny X-Men and The New Mutants, depending on the current story arc. Maybe Josh Boone at least did Dani and Illyana some justice. The guy they got for Roberto doesn't fit, and really neither does the kid playing Sam. He's not tall and lanky enough. Oh well...

@Bl0odwerK - virtue signal by screwing with at least half the characters (the straight, white half).

Because of course there are no straight, white characters in the MCU. Except for Cap. And Tony. And Thor. Banner. Hawkeye. Strange. Two Ant-Men. Peter Quill. Peter Parker. And those are just the male leading characters I could immediately think of.

@Kyos - That was before Endgame. Going forward, watch what happens.

All I know is that it'd be criminal not to bring Anya Taylor-Joy into the MCU at some point. Doesn't need to be Magik again...

(obviously not even a mention of the Phoenix for years)

There was literally no actual plot until the last 30 minutes.
I was hoping it would at least be a mutant horror thriller but it wasnt even remotely scary.

Still a better and less offensive film than Age of Apocalypse.
