TENET And THE NEW MUTANTS Pirated Copies Start Appearing Online Following Limited Theatrical Releases

As expected, it's being reported that pirated copies of both Tenet and The New Mutants have started appearing online after limited theatrical releases both in the U.S. and overseas. Check it out...

Variety is reporting that pirated versions of both Christopher Nolan's Tenet and The New Mutants have leaked online since their respective releases last week. As you might expect, these are not HD copies of either film; instead, they're what the trade describe as "camcorded copies of negligible quality - at least one has Korean subtitles and another has German subtitles."

Both Warner Bros. and Disney are acting fast to pull these down, but there's clearly a demand for them online due to safety concerns surrounding returning to theaters and the fact both movies have received limited releases across the globe (Tenet hasn't reached the U.S. yet and The New Mutants is still in only a handful of countries).

New York and Los Angeles are among the key locations where theaters remain closed, so it wouldn't be overly surprising for people based there to have been tempted by these pirated copies.

As TorrentFreak tells the trade, "a movie’s big piracy boom comes when the first high-quality copy appears online." Thus far, neither movie appears to have shown up in that sort of quality, and with only dedicated filmgoers heading to theaters for the most part right now, it's unlikely to happen.

Thus far, there's been no word on legal, Digital releases for either one of these new releases.

Have you seen either one of these movies in theaters?

I'm waiting for Tenet, not going to be stealing from Nolan.

Probably won't watch New Mutants either way.

@dracula - It's a fantastic piece of cinema. Shocked how some say that it's Nolan's worst film yet. IMO miles above Inception and Prestige (wich to me are his weaker movies)

@Blergh - I agree. The first hour is tough to follow so I can see where it might lose some, but the payoff is worth it and warrants multiple views.

This is the case with literally every movie. It’s gonna be worse for Mulan since it opens in big territories like China weeks after 1080p-to-4K copies will be online

I tried watching it on my super, secret special source. But I couldn't understand a word. They were mumbling and talking to fast, and in CAM quality? Forget about it.

I guess I'll just wait til it goes to Digital.

This happens with every movie, and each time I wonder who wants to see these half-assed recordings.

Might check out New Mutants eventually, but I'm seeing Tenet tonight. I keep reading good and bad reviews, so I have no idea what to expect (aside from Nolan's usual playing with time and protagonist's dead wives)

@MalesMarcel - probably people who live in poor territories, tbf Russian HDcams can have great quality sometimes.

@MalesMarcel - you want to know what movie is like go see it for your self never reviews made strangers who do not know you as person reviews do not make movies money it is people who want to see them.,

If ten star resturant chef recommends order like cockroaches that is plate that made resturant ten stars I will not eat it to that is letting reviews tell Gmail grown adult what to do in life I never listen to reviews I make my own decision what movie is good not reviews

I didn't have any problems with the audio but then I saw a dubbed version. After an hour I was ready to leave the theater but then the pace picks up and, when you think about it, the central concept of the movie is quite good.

All those bad reviews for New Mutants, aren't necessarily wrong.😂 I'd recommend it to either hardcore X-Men fans, or hardcore Anya Taylor-Joy fans.

@dragon316 - I didn't feel it was THAT bad.

Honestly, it's just a movie. It could have been done a LOT better, but it's still better than Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix (admittedly, the bar is pretty low there...).

Also, I think Maisie Williams is the film's heart, not Anya.

Saw Tenet (paid for it, fair and square). Without giving any spoilers here, Nolan really has a great imagination, so rare nowadays to see someone do something this original with time manipulation related scifi concepts. Though it I think it might have worked even better in a more clearly scifi film than in otherwise realistic action movie. My favorite Nolan film is still probably the Prestige. After seeing Tenet, I think the role of James Bond could've been even better for Robert Pattinson than Batman.
Blergh
Blergh - 9/1/2020, 5:12 AM
@Odin - Could have seen Pattinson as Bond as well, however I'm fine with Batman. He's a good actor, he can pull it off for sure.

I'll get Tenet on BluRay asap as it comes out
Origame
Origame - 9/1/2020, 7:59 AM
@Odin - yeah. Especially nowadays that studios put so much money into blockbusters that the only way to sell them is with existing stories. With nolan since batman, literally nothing he did was an existing ip.

Loved Tenet (playing here in austria), IMO one of his strongest movies to date.

Like everyone said, this happens with every movie that comes out. But they're always bad quality.

I can understand people not going to see them in theatres for safety reasons but you would be very stupid to watch these movies in these conditions. At least wait for a proper digital release.

@dirtyscore -
"they're always bad quality"
Not really, just the initial ones until they update them.

Personally I'm not returning to a cinema experience until the earliest of Summer 2021. I don't know anyone who is going back to the cinema this year, they simply do not view it as safe or a relaxing/enjoyable experience. Any movie released prior to that I'll either simply have to catch via other methods or won't see and at the moment none of it really appeals.

If the creators had faith in these projects they would have made them available to everyone to view without going the cinema knowing the safety concerns, not releasing them during a pandemic so they can write them off when they end up bombing/underperforming.

@Scarilian - in fairness, any movie releasing will come to drive ins. Only exception is tenet if a local theater isnt showing it.

Oh no. How awful for the filmmakers or whatever. Let me know when there's an HD rip for these.
LameLuka
LameLuka - 9/1/2020, 6:17 AM
This happens with every movie that comes out. Mulan is going to get pirated to hell, since that will be in HD. Can't see Disney making much money in china if that happens
