Bryan Singer Reveals That 'Caliban' Will Appear In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

X-Men: Apocalypse will feature a mutant none of us expected to see, as director Bryan Singer has taken to Twitter to share a behind the scenes photo of Caliban's lair. A Morlock, Caliban has also served as Apocalypse's faithful hellhound. Check it out!

Who is Caliban? He's a mutant with the ability to sense other mutants within a 25 mile radius, and as well as being a Morlock, Caliban has been a member of X-Factor and X-Force. However, it's his relationship with Apocalypse which will no doubt come into play in X-Men: Apocalypse. As a Morlock, the character looked pretty emaciated and unimpressive, but he later transformed into a far more impressive figure when he decided to align himself with Apocalypse.

According to ComicVine, "For a while Caliban was known as Hellhound, but was later officially announced as Death, Archangel's replacement in Apocalypse's Horsemen. He would use his enhanced senses and strength to locate more mutants for Apocalypse, and his personal anger and rage to punish his enemies." How much of this will factor into X-Men: Apocalypse remains to be seen, especially as Singer doesn't always pay that much attention to the source material!

I'm sure Apocalypse will use him to find his Horseman.
Wonder who will be playing him!

I always liked Caliban.

He was cooler as a member of X-Force than a Horseman though.

Hope this sets up the sequel, with Mr Sinister as the main villain
And the Morlocks slaughter at the hands of the Marauders.

That's some good news. Hopefully he won't be a generic bad guy that doesn't say anything or has a one dimensional personality.

It's understandable most of you don't know who Caliban is, he's from the comics, not the cartoons.

Kinda interesting but where's Bobby Drake, Singer? You can't reboot the X-men and leave out and original member. doooooo it!!

Hm, why not? I just hope Scott and Jean (and Storm) get a decent amount of screentime and development. And Nightcrawler! (Not so) fuzzy elf ftw! <3

Caliban is a pretty important character he was more present in the comics in the last few years than Iceman. I hope they do a Morlocks reference or something to do with Morlocks.

@ComicsBornandBred

Totally! Mr Sinister is a very good villain, I can see an end credits scene from the aftermath of the big fight with Apocalypse, where we see Sinister watching Scott and Jean with a big grin.

Would be epic!
And yeah. The X-Men trying to reason with the Morlock's and stepping in when they're being slaughtered would be a great storyline to see. Maybe even a real Storm vs Callisto battle!

Love these passive aggressive articles. "Singer doesn't always pay that much attention to the source material." Yeah, not like Marvel Studios. I mean, the Mandarin was spot on, am I right? And Avengers 2, that origin for Ultron? Plucked right from the page, man! LOL.

At any rate, this is interesting news. Look forward to seeing the Morlocks and what role they play in this.

Oh, and I would love to see the Mutant Massacre next with Sinister and the Marauders in the tunnels.

@speedyg33

Considering Bobby's age at the end of DOFP, he would be too young or not born yet to be in Apocalypse. Same problem they have with Rogue.

When the heck did Caliban stop being the skinny bald beanie wearing mutant?

He got transformed in the 90s, I think around the time Cable was turning the New Mutants into X-Force because I remember them running into him and Sabretooth in the Morlock tunnels and Caliban breaking Creed's back. So early 90s.

Not to be confused with Calibos.
