Channing Tatum Addresses Rumors That He'll Appear As 'Gambit' In X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

In the following interviews with MTV News, Channing Tatum and Nicholas Hoult discuss their role (or lack thereof) in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse. In Tatum's case, it appears as if nothing is set in stone in regards to Gambit showing up in that movie before his solo outing next year. "You know, I don’t know if I’m at liberty to say," the actor said. "But I don’t think I want to introduce Gambit until you can really explain who Gambit is."

Hoult meanwhile - who along with a number of other actors is not expected to appear in any future X-Men movies - had this to say about those reports. "This is the last contracted one for now, so we’ll wait and see what the guys come up with. Simon Kinberg’s writing this one again, and Brian [Singer] is directing, so it’s going to be a good crew. There’s some cool stuff.

More from the actors can be found in the videos below!

Fox really wasted Taylor Kitsch. Dude's a great actor. Same with Ben Foster.

I thought he was already confirmed to make an appearance in Apocalypse. I guess we'll see soon.

The less we see of Tatum, the better.

He'll be there. As a Horseman. Perfect way to intro him without having to go into anything important with him.

@blackandyellow

Agreed completely. I thought Kitsch did well with what they gave him in Origins. Certainly better than Maverick or John Wraith.

And Foster could kill just about any role. Probably the only character I'm upset that they had to recast with the new timeline.

The Islanders apparently got caught in traffic because of an Obama motorcade in Washington. They have their game at 7, and they still haven't made it to the arena I think. This is hilarious.

Don't need a meathead Gambit that can't spit out a Cajun accent if his life depended on it. Other than that, he seems like nice guy and more power to him

Cyclops being a teenager, Hugh getting closer to the 50s, Tatum much much older than Tye Sheridan...... he just doesnt fit the young cast.

Hugh, Marsden and Tatum on the same movie, that would be a whole different story. That would be epic, man, but... its Fox, so wont ever happen

Never thought about Jackman's age, but ya......he is going to appear 20 years older while playing his younger (X-Men) counterpart

Marsden? Really? Guy's not even much of an actor. Even written properly I don't think he would've been a good Cyclops.

But yeah, Montreal scares the crap out of me.

Props to Winnipeg, btw. They and their fans deserved a better fate.

Wow...I just found something really scary. David Benioff...co-creator and writer of Game of Thrones, co-wrote Origins with Skip Woods.

My mind cannot comprehend this...

Just crush them.

And yeah, we got beat pretty good. But we definitely softened up Anaheim for whoever plays them next. Almost 400 hits between the two teams in 4 games. Ridiculously violent series. I loved every minute of it. We're gonna be even better next year. We've got a scary amount of prospects coming. The Cup will be in Winnipeg before Superman gets a solo sequel.

@MercwithMouth Knowing the Rangers, they're going to drag this out to 6 or 7 games, so I don't have high hopes.

But seriously man, I actually felt bad for the Ducks haha. Probably one of the hardest sweeps I've ever seen.

Winnipeg has a ridiculously bright future though. Yeah, they'll definitely be back.

LOL!

Wait... so Gambit might NOT appear in X-Men: Apocalypse?

Then who the hell cares?

Seriously, the majority of X-Men characters are only really interesting as part of an ensemble, and Gambit is absolutely one of them. He's a two-dimensional anti-hero bad boy. The most interesting thing he ever does is act as a foil for the more straight-laced X-people. (And romance Rogue, of course, but she isn't in the next movie either, so it's kind of a moot point.)

Why in the name of Lucifer's butt-crack would I want to go see a movie just about him? I mean, even if he WEREN'T being played by Channing Tatum?

I guess this is karmic balance asserting itself. We're lucky enough to finally be getting that Deadpool movie, so they have to drop a Gambit flick on us to balance the scales.

I still hope that Gambit's in X-Men: Apocalypse, though. 'Cause while he's two-dimensional, he's still a fun character when he's in a group. But if he's not, no biggie-- the movie will rock with or without him, I'm sure!
