While promoting the release of her latest movie Barely Lethal, over on Spinoff Online (via X-Men Films), Game Of Thrones star Sophie Turner briefly touched on playing 'Jean Grey' in Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse. Set to step into a role inhabited by Famke Janssen for almost fifteen years, Turner expressed her sheer ecstasy at giving her own take on such a recognizable figure:

"Feasting my eyes upon that script was insane! I just think the fact that it’s such an iconic character and so well loved in the comics and stuff that it’s very exciting to be able to take it on. Famke Janssen’s portrayed Jean so well, so beautifully, and it’s nice to kind of – although I’m “young her,” it’s nice to have my own take on it as well and interpret this character, this action superhero the way that I kind of want to. Oh, my God. It’s so exciting!"

She also claimed she had been preparing for the role by watching "every X-Men movie that’s ever been released", as well as checking out the "TV X-Men stuff" too. Are you as excited as she is to see a new and younger version of Jean in X-Men: Apocalypse? The movie will hit cinemas May 27, 2016. Sign off with your thoughts in the comments below!

Gonna have to wait for some footage to be sold on her. Wasn't wowed by her when I watched Game of Thrones, and I'm not wowed by this either.

Hmm.right.i guess she must have had a brief little summary about the fundamentals of the character by singer and co.

Screw the X-men timeline to [frick]. She should be playing jean grey, not "young jean grey". Famke Janssen had an awful take on the character.

Bryan Singer always tells the actors not to read the comics because he doesn't want them to try to be like the books. Hugh Jackman once said in an interview that he showed up with a Wolverine trade paperback on set and Singer got really upset. Singer is a hack and he doesn't want anyone on set reminded of how loosely he's based his movies on the real books.

Famke was fantastic as Jean Grey.
She had such a warm and likeable quality to her that really embodied the character.

I wasn't so sure about Sophie when she was cast but I'm warming up to her.
I haven't seen GoT so I can't comment on her acting, but the look she has down perfectly.

I'm so pleased with this casting for Jean Grey. Sophie Turner is a fine young actor who has managed, on Game of Thrones, to make a character who could easily have come across as entirely weak and annoying into someone with a lot more depth that viewers can still root for. I'm excited to see what she does with Jean Grey (who she is the spitting image of, by the way)

Apparently the choice of four horseman is going to be interesting, not sure whether that means some random lot or someone like "the 12" iteration. Guessing Caliban is one

She may nail the role of Jean, but I think she would'hv been better fit for Rouge.

@AbhiShake I like her but you think she could have pulled off a tough southern girl? Haven't seen that sort of confidence from her in anything she's done. She's right for Jean who is always dealing with the inner turmoil trying to keep her powers in check.

Not sure about the accent but she looks like Rouge more and she could pull off the personality of her. Ahh but it's not gonna happen she's Jean now.

Its not going to matter how good or bad she will be as jean grey...its not a true X-men film anyway, if all the previous ones are any indication. So who cares?

"its not a true X-men film anyway, if all the previous ones are any indication. So who cares?"

You should re-watch "X-Men: First Class" and "X-Men: Days of Future Past". Those were true X-Men films.

Yes, the earlier films in the series were a departure from the comic, but people seem to forget that the earlier films were made in the early 2000s (which were a much different time for comic book films; no would would take a full-on comic book movie like "The Avengers" seriously in 2005). If you've seen the concept art and set photos for "X-Men: Apocalypse", you would know that it looks to be VERY close to the comic, the same goes for the "Deadpool" movie. Fox is evolving with the times just fine.

Sophie Turner was BORN in 1996

Chris Claremont's last issue of Uncanny X-men was published in 1991

I feel very old and am going to go lay down now.

What is she suppose to say lol

"Famke sucked ! and who the hell wrote this drivel she's nothing like the character. Singer is a bad director. "

It's business not the CBM comment section. Did you expect her to trash a fellow actor in an interview lol.

heads up.

if you do contract work for a company that pays a few million in 6-8 months that could lead into more work, use this as a template:

"Feasting my eyes upon that {workflow} was insane! Oh, my God. It’s so exciting!"

Cannot wait to see her in the role, she is who I was hoping would get cast. GoT isn't doing great stuff with her, but the potential is there.

Famke was alright, just kinda forgettable. She played a completely serviceable Jean Grey. She was actually best in The Wolverine.
