In a nearly 2 hour podcast about X-Men: Days of Future Past with host Jeff Goldsmith, after 1 hour and 12 minutes in, Simon Kinberg reveals that the "next movie takes place in 1983," 10 years after Days of Future Past.

James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, and Evan Peters are expected to return, and it has been confirmed that younger versions of Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm will appear, along with Gambit, and possibly a younger Nightcrawler.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theatres May 27, 2016!

1980s would be a few years after Dazzler gave up being a pop star, maybe we'll see her

So the next film after Apocalypse will be set in 1993 right?

There's a part of me that wants Fox to continue the current franchise with McAvoy and Fassbender, I think they are perfect for Charles and Eric. But... the X-Men fan in me want's a reboot with the original five taking on Sinister or Magneto.

Wait wasn't Patrick Stewart the Professor X from the 80's? I get that they reset the continuity, but that doesn't mean Xavier is suddenly going to look younger just because of that.

Makes sense, they need to fill the timeline from where Wolverine was pulled out the water to the point where he remembers what he went through to save the future.

Sad that even fake X-Men are better than those mindless marvel studio films.

DOFP fix everything so we can see that

Imagine finally see that team fighting Apocalypse now

More action similar to what we saw in future scenes

The absence of Sentinels allowed someone like Sinister (who might have been killed by them) was able to wake him?

I have no doubt that Apocalypse will be badass, but we should start to accept the fact that he'll probably look nothing like the villain we know from the comics. Maybe he will after all, but Fox has a particular vision when it comes to portraying their X-men characters.

I like how certain people who cry about "The Fake X-Men" feel the need to comment on every thread related to Fox or the X-Men. But I guess some people just enjoy saying the same shit every day..

You might wanna take it easy on the Fox kool-laid bro;) Yeah DOFP was a great film but a very poor X-MEN film. There's a difference.

I'm sure Fox will show FF and Secret Service

As far as Xmen, we probably want get nothing or maybe just a small tease of what to come

so from x-men first class(1963)to x-men apocalypse(1983) none of them look like they've aged twenty years.

anyway everything will be alright, the x-men look perfectly fine at the end of days of future past which is meant to be set in the year 2023,so no danger from apocalypse f*ckin things up for them.

Listening to this podcast

Surprising Simon mention Cable was in talks

And they had Rachel Summers in the script......thank god they took them out, cause it would make even more complicated then it is now

(SPOILER) for those who ain't seen it:

At the ending of DoFP (SPOILER) Wolvie wakes up into the X-Mansion in clothing that does not looks as it was set in the 80s...so how does this come accordingly to the timeline of apocalypse? =S

Exactly, you can. It's just idiotic to me. Why even bother following a movie you're clearly not interested in?

Correction: You're a fan of the X-Men COMICS. You're obviously not a fan of the MOVIES, which is what we're discussing.

It really comes down to what you do and don't care about. Some people don't care about the lack of colourful costumes in X-Men movies, while others don't care that Hank Pym is going to be a senior citizen. If you're going to call one movie fake for deviating the source, then stay consistent and call the rest of them fake for doing the same thing.

It's perfectly fine to pick and choose what changes you do and don't like, but own it for what it is, instead of going on like it's okay for one, and not the other.

THIS!!!!

Ppl only choose what they liked, that was changed from the comic material and bitch/complain over the things they didn't like..... Every studio has done it

"I think the biggest bittersweet thing for me with DOFP was that they took what was pretty much a perfect set up for a true X Men movie - The ending of First Class - and instead decided to back track all of that progress and do a retread with the original cast."

I kind of...really agree with that, actually. I've been pretty lukewarm about DoFP, and I haven't exactly been 100% sure why. It wasn't as obviously flawed as something like TASM 2 or anything, but it just didn't connect with me as much as The Winter Soldier did.

Maybe that's why? Maybe it's because First Class had the perfect opportunity to reboot the entire thing, but it got dragged back into the lesser-quality of the original movies with DoFP? Interesting.

@JohnCarter

And who's fault is that? The studio? Or the person who constantly keeps coming back and watching the movies hoping for something completely comic book accurate?
