Bryan Singer's critically accliamed X-Men: Days of Future Past grossed over $744M worldwide, making it the highest grossing CBM of the year as well as the highest grossing X-Men film ever. What makes this feat even more impressive is that it achieved this without being released in IMAX. The film featured one of the most impressive ensembles ever assembled on screen uniting the orignal cast of Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Anna Paquin, and Daniel Cudmore with the First Class cast of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Lucas Till. The sequel, X-Men: Apocalypse, recently started pre-production.

Check out an awesome new featurette from the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release below where we're given a behind-the-scenes look at the process behind creating the portals used by Fan Bingbing's Blink!

*If the video looks distorted, switch to full screen and it should play properly.*

X-Men: Days of Future Past is the highest grossing CBM of the year?

[frick]ing sweet. Deserves it too. Fox really stole the year imo. With Dawn of Apes, X-Men, and How to Train Your Dragon. What a fantastic year for movies.

She said she's signed onto the next "4 X-Men Films" or just 4 films in general. I wonder what those films could be?

Isn't Transformers considered a comic book movie? Because I honestly thought that was the highest grossing CBM of the year seeing that it's had previous comics in the past long before the films even released. *shrugs*

@jCamer0n

Don't speak to soon bro, as much as I wanted the X-Men to own summer 2014 it does seem like Guardians are slowly on their way to take the 2nd spot as highest grossing CBM of the summer. There's always 2016 to look forward to. lol But perhaps BvS will take that spot. Main battle will honestly be between Cap 3 and X-Men: Apocalypse the way I see it.

@InfiniteMonkey

Ohhh ok, so you think that perhaps they're doing everything they can to hold on to her so that they have a somewhat of a "key" so to say towards "Middle America" ?? lol

@therationalnerd

Actually Transformers is based on a toyline

That had spinoffs to cartoons and comics

@JoJo1982

Trueee I feel you on that. They even had the 8-'s movie launch from the series as well. But the modern films themselves have derived some aspects from the comics. For Example: The Fallen was a character within one of the comic series and they brought that comic character to the second film. That film relied upon "some" of the comic book counterparts therefore I find it to be a comic book movie you know?

@therationnerd

Yeah true but just cause it has a few characters from the comic doesn't really mean the movie is now based on the comic.
I mean Harley Quinn appeared on the tv show Arrow and she is a character that was based on a cartoon show, doesn't make Arrow is now based on the cartoon show..... Ya kno what I mean buddy

Autobots, Dinobots, etc.... Originated from the cartoons much like xmen, GotG, cap, originated from the comics

@jCamer0n Agreed, it scares me to imagine what Marvel/Disney would do with The X-Men. It would probably be something stupid like GOTG...
