He's a mix between Matthew Mcconaughey and Keanu Reeves. But I honestly think he make an good Guku... Goku wasn't the brightest tool in the shed either until it came to fighting...

Yeah he makes a fine Goku. Too bad he's in the movie which is going to be the equivalent of Van Damme's "Street Fighter"

lets hope jordan heath that nothing is to the equivalent of Van Damme's street fighter ever again including the Kruke SF.

I'm hoping this movie turns out good i love DB and have been waiting for this movie since it was first mentioned back in 02 i think it was, and there was concept art circulating of Vegeta, Nappa and Raditz on a huge sayian ship that looked awesome.

I didn't Like him at first...But after this Interview Im Really Liking him now.

Thats Exactly how Goku Should be. Everything eles is suppose to be sound kind of Goofy or Ditzy, etc. But When he (especially) started talking about Fighting, I actually cracked a smile. Thats almost Exactly how Goku would Answer that question if he we're given an Interview.

It really brought my hopes up for the movie.

I just hope they do certain little things like Goku being an absolute PIG when it comes to Eating and being TERRIFIED of Needles when getting a shot.

Then thats Goku.

I was MAD at first just like Everybody Else.

But...It looks like it could be pretty good now so I'll go ahead and see it.

Looking foward to the seeing what Radits and especially Vegita will look like in the Next one.

I like what I've seen so far, and I hope this is a hit, just to see what the filmmakers would do with Vegeta and the Super-Saiyan transformations in the sequels.

I was already rooting for this movie. but this brought my expectations even higher since we FINALLY get to see his personality, if even a little bit. Sure it's Chatwin talking, but if he incorporated that into his portrayal of Goku, then he's golden.

haha same here SGA I mean the very first shots were like "Wtf is that?!?!" and when the trailer came out, I've been very optimistic about it since. I'm really glad people are starting to see this in a whole new light now =D

Why is the super fag play a super sayjin? This is why I hope Hollywood gets hit by terrorists. Or maybe the next Com in L.A. will lead a march on studios.

Well, first of all, Justin's personality is totally matching Goku's in this interview...not really knowing what to say or how to say it, but likes fighting.

and also, he's not a super saiyan.....yet. We don't know if they'll bring him back as Goku or not in the next movie...the only actor (that I know of) that is confirmed to return in a sequel is James Marsters as Piccolo.

Justin Chatwin: "lolwut? big werdz"

Off-topic: I know Bruce Lee was a bamf, but is that the only fighter people know about? Geeze. Who knows about Morihei Ueshiba?

P.S. Okay, so you know about Chuck Norris. ;)

DUDE, DRAGONBALL Z WORKED, THE CARTOON WORKED.WHY..WHY..WHY DO DIRECTORS AND STUDIO HEADS CHANGE THINGS,I KNOW THE WHOLE WHAT WORKED FOR THE CARTOON MAY NOT WORK FOR LIVE ACTION THING..BUT I SEE THESE GUYS TAKING TOO MANY LIBERTIES AND CHANGING TOO MANY THINGS THAT DGZ FANS LOVED, I PERSONALLY LIKED THE OVER POWERFUL EPIC FIGHTS,MOUNTAINS BREAKING EARTH SHATTERING, CRATER CREATING EPIC BATTELS..IS THIS MOVIE GOING TO HAVE THAT? HOW ABOUT SUPER SAYIEN TRANSFORMATIONS?, IT JUST SEEMS WATERED DOWN. THIS ISNT A HONG KONG KUNG FU MOVIE..ITS DRAGONBALL, ENORMOUS DIFFERENCE, IF YOU DONT GET THAT YOU DONT GET IT AT ALL.DONT HIRE DIRECTORS THAT AREN'T FANS,I SEE MAJOR F.U.B.R HERE....
GUNSMITH
GUNSMITH - 2/14/2009, 4:37 AM
TO ADD MR CHATWIN, BRUCE LEE? DUDE GOKU IS FAR FROM BRUCE LEE..GOKU HAS A CHILDLIKE INNOCENCE, WHAT ARE YOU PLAYING? A HIGHSCHOOL TEENAGER? GOKU DIDNT GO TO FREAKING HIGHSCHOOL..NO MAN......NO..WRONG WAY MAN.

gunsmith...this is Dragonball, not DBZ, who there aren't going to be any super saiyans...as for the earth shattering epic battles. if you look at the trailers, a whole city gets blown to bits, anytime you see Goku and Piccolo, they're smashing stuff. there's ki blasts everywhere...there's going to be some smashing and stuff, but if you remember, Dragonball didn't have it as much as DBZ...which, I repeat, this movie ISN'T dragonball Z, but just plain Dragonball.

And Chatwin was talking about his similarity to bruce lee as not Goku's personality compared to Lee's but his physique. He may not be the biggest person around, but is fast, agile, accurate, and a lot stronger than he looks.

NoobMike - 2/14/2009, 9:56 AM
Seriously...anyone who compares themselves with Bruce Lee, even if it is mildly comparing themselves with him and if it is physically even more so, better be a martial arts expert (years of experience) and not some one who just got 3-6 months of training for a movie. I mean it's just prepoustrous to even imply that, it took years of intense training for Bruce Lee to get to the level of speed, stamina and strength he finally reached.

SGA, you are wrong... this won't be Dragonball this is Dragonball Evolution, if it was Dragonball Goku would never be in school, there would be Krillin as a main character, Goku would have killed his grandpa, there would be RR army, and it wouldn't suck.

"Justin is not a fighter"??? he talks in third person? that's just retarded.

MoonDoggyX - 2/14/2009, 10:37 AM
OMG! He was comparing Goku to Bruce Lee... What's next? His eyes aren't as big as goku's...? LOL

NoobMike you twisted sunnavabit@#!!! you are right! My point again is this.... Lord of the Rings was a great adaption of a fantastic and mystical world. A place where we did not need to see Frodo set in a real high school setting in order to believe in that story. His hair bothers me cuz it does not transport me to a place where crazy hair and wild eyed fighters exist without regard to everyone else. I am getting tired of re-imaginings of stories cuz the original stories were so imaginative to begin with and are not getting a proper treatment. oh and the noobmike thing was just cuz i am feelin a little frisky right now. but he's gotta point.
MoonDoggyX
MoonDoggyX - 2/14/2009, 12:52 PM
I totally understand what ur saying, but that has a lot to do with the literary quality of the source material. You seriously just compared some of the best literary work in the last century to a kids cartoon. Don't get me wrong, I love Dragonball a zillion times more than LOTR, but I'm not disillusioned about its quality either. The world of Dragonball was there just to give them a place to fight, it had no real consistency too it.
NoobMike
NoobMike - 2/14/2009, 3:34 PM
that's just BS, DB had it's consistency (maybe a bit warped) and many of the aspects that weren't there at first were later built upon. Sort of what happened with LOTR, I know that the story behind LOTR is much much deeper than that of DB. In the Hobbit, there are some foundations, but there is no explanation for many of the things that happen (sort of DB). Then comes LOTR and some questions are answered but some things are still unclear (sort of DBZ), then comes the Silmarillion and it ties all the loose ends (unlike DBGT, lol). Anyway it all boils down to... they are different, and they were created under different conditions, so comparing them is hard enough.

What they are doing to DB is the same as if they took LOTR and made Frodo have a girlfriend and try to get rid of the ring for love (his girlfriend gets a curse after wearing the ring in a Shire dance), have Gollum be lusting after Frodo's girlfriend, remove Sam, have Gandalf be a scientist, and have Sauron be a humanoid monster (after all before seeing it, I'm positive most people thought that a fiery eye wouldn't translate well to film).
MoonDoggyX
MoonDoggyX - 2/14/2009, 4:47 PM
LMAO! I wasn't talking about the story or the characters. I meant more geograpical. When they wanted to have a fight in a city, there was a big city. The same with villages or mountains or cliffs and dinosaurs.

GUNSMITH
GUNSMITH - 2/14/2009, 8:22 PM
OK MAYBE IM MIXING UP DB DBZ D WHATEVER..HONESTLY WHEN IT BOILS DOWN TO IT, IF YOU DONT GET THOSE THINGS PEOPLE REMEMBER AND LOVE AND BE TRUE TO THEM, ITS NOT GOING TO WORK, IT NOT A QUESTION OF WHAT TIME FRAME OR SERIES OR WHAT..THIS IS WHY THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE ARE LIKE"THE MOVIE IS GOING TO SUCK", IF YOUR GOING TO DO DRAGONBALL..DO IT RIGHT.
MoonDoggyX
MoonDoggyX - 2/14/2009, 8:53 PM
Nicely said, Gunsmith! For me its the action and goku, totally. The fights and fireballs nd how they kept getting bigger and bigger. And Goku was a really cool hero for the story. All innocent and pure of heart, yet always hungry for a fight and always looking for a bigger challenge... As long as they can pull that off, i'll be happy...
