In a recent interview about the upcoming movie Inception from The Dark Knight director Christopher Nolan, actor Cillian Murphy was asked about whether there are currently any plans for him to return in the franchise's third installment (due to be released July 20, 2012) as the villainous Scarecrow.

"It’s not for me to start campaigning for the Scarecrow to come back but if Chris wants me back in that role, yeah, absolutely, I would love to do it..."

Murphy clearly has some sway when it comes to working with Nolan as he went on to explain that the director allowed him to read through the Inception script and choose which character he wanted to play! As well as that, the actor was quick to praise the skills of the man who was recently announced as the brains behind a reboot of the Superman franchise:

"There is never confusion on a Chris Nolan set. Just to be around him… he has complete confidence in his abilities without ever appearing arrogant. He’s just at ease, and he gives actors great confidence. To feel a director like Chris has faith in you is very liberating."

So, would you like to see the Scarecrow return? Or would you like to see some new villains introduced and if so, which ones? Have your say in the usual place!

I loved seeing Scarecrow pop up in the begining of Dark Knight, but I'd really like another villian make a brief cameo. Perhaps Deadshot or Killer Croc.

Oh man, I have a huge crush on him and he's such an amazing actor. I'd love for him to come back to Batman 3, even a brief cameo like in TDK would be fine :')

He was great, but no. No more Scarecrow. Give us something new to work with. Gots to keep it fresh!

I think they need to have Batman go into Arkham Asylum and see Scarecrow behind bars. That would be the proper way for him to be shown. Also, while in Arkham, Batman walks around and sees a Solitary Confinement cell with the name "Patient Joker" printed on it, that would be the way to tie off the Joker.

I'd rather like to see Poison Ivy or Catwoman..

tea: Lol, thanks bud! :)

I thought it was a great idea to give Scarecrow a small cameo at the beginning of The Dark Knight but unless he'll actually be involved in the story, I think it would be boring to bring him back for a third time! Murphy did a great job playing the character though so I'd still be happy enough to see him come back to play him again!

I'd actually be happy seeing any Batman villains making an appearence in the same style that Scarecrow did in the last movie...that's where the Spider-Man franchise went wrong IMO - with characters like these that have such great villains they should take every oppurtunity to give the minor ones a small cameo at some point!

Cillian Murphy is a brilliant actor and was somewhat wasted as Scarecrow in the Batman films. IF the WB were to ever do a live-action version (yeah right, like that would ever happen), I think he'd be a PERFECT fit for Jason Todd / The Red Hood:

...just watch films like '28 Days Later' and tell me I'm wrong!

airbeyonder18 - With your idea about the Joker tie-off, they could also do a tip-o-the-hat to the comic books by having Doctor Quinn coming out of 'Patient J's' room and bumping into Batman... (LMAO!)

I think the best cameo for Scarecrow would be as an inmate in Arkham, maybe escaping near the end of the film.

I know Nolan is dropping the franchise after this film - but hopefully he would still leave things open. No actor, or director is bigger than the character. Batman will go on without Nolan one day.

@ Loganoneil - Yeah! I totally agree wif you! He could have made a good Joker, not that Heath is not good, but he might pulled it off if casted for that role :-)

I wouldn't mind seeing him show up for a scene like he did in TDK. Other than that: "Batman Forever" without Robin. Oh yeah! I want Two-Face back and I want The Riddler introduced....I, also, want them to hint at Mr. Freeze so that the next director can do the character justice.

That would be awesome, Cillian Murphy is the one of the few really great Irish actors and he did an awesome job as the Scarecrow, as good as Heath Ledger and Aaron Eckhart in my opinion. It would be awesome to see him back in Batman 3, as long as he is not just shoehorned into the movie for no reason

I'd love him in a cameo and possibly ste up as a villain in a later movie; but right now the main villain has got to be either Black Mask or Bane; NOT THE RIDLER YET

Good stuff Josh!

Like you said, if it is just a cameo, not worth it. Let some other villain play a small role.

@Tea-I like your red wig better, you sexy ginger, you!

@ comicdreamer why wouldn't you want to see Nolan's Riddler after seeing how the Joker turned out?

So we get more Sacrecrow and no Two-Face is that really necessary? Like teabag said rather see Hugo Strange and Black Mask rather than Riddler I'm still gagging form the last performance.
