Earlier today, Saban Brands (via IGN) announced their plans for the future of the Power Rangers franchise with the announcement of Power Rangers Ninja Steel, which will be the 24th season in their long-running series. The upcoming iteration will make its debut on Nickelodeon in early 2017, likely around the same time the Lionsgate-produced movie hits theaters. The series will likely draw its inspiration from Shuriken Sentai Ninninger, the 39th entry in the Super Sentai franchise, and you can view a photo of that team of heroes above.

Here's the official description of the new series:

"Saban's Power Rangers Ninja Steel starts deep in space, where Zircon is the reigning champion of the most popular intergalactic game show in the universe, and monsters battle to prove who is the mightiest warrior. Zircon is determined to become invincible by controlling the mythical Spirit Crystal, which contains six supernatural Ninja Power Throwing Stars. The only thing standing in his way is a new team of heroic teenage Power Rangers who possess the Spirit Crystal. The evil Zircon sends his warrior contestants down to Earth to steal the Crystal, where each epic battle against the Rangers is broadcast throughout the universe. Together, the Rangers must master their arsenal of Throwing Stars, Zords and Megazords, each made of legendary ninja steel, in order to stop this evil threat and save our planet from destruction."

Before the Ninja Steel rangers morph into action, the Dino Charge rangers have some unfinished business to attend to. IGN also revealed today that the 23rd season in the Power Rangers franchise, Power Rangers Dino Super Charge, will premiere on Saturday, January 30 at 12 PM ET/PT on Nickelodeon. The team will consist of 10 Rangers, a first in franchise history. Here's the first photo from the upcoming season:

Additionally, Saban Brands have renewed their partnership with Nickelodeon to air the show through 2018, which seemingly squashes those rumors about the series moving to Netflix.

So, what do you guys think? Will you and/or your kids be tuning into Dino Super Charge and Ninja Steel? Sound off with your thoughts below!

Why don't they do something new like mythology based power rangers or something? Isn't this like the third time we've had Ninja's, and also the third Dino themed?

Honesty, I have to personally say that Power Rangers has gotten better since Saban secured the rights once again. Samurai was pretty good and I love how they at least "try" to make the Zords and Megazords look realistic besides heavily cgi altered scenes. The costumes even look better. I don't expect the series to top the classics back in the day "Mighty Morphin", "In Space", "Lost Galaxy", "Lightspeed Rescue" and "Time Force" but I have to say that they have indeed made improvements. After the movie hits I'm sure they'lol have an even bigger audience.

Plus...

I know that Hot Toys Megazords for the upcoming movie is going to be SEXY!!!!!!!!!!

@WakanadasSoul,

Clearly, there's a fanbase that has kept it going. Just because you stopped caring, doesn't mean other people did too.

That's right haters. Hate on the Power Rangers, on a site devoted to movies based on COMIC BOOKS.

@ManCalledSting yeah buddy, Jungle Fury and Dino Charge had "Violet" rangers. There were more for sentai I believe.

You people do realize their target demo are 4-10 year olds right? It's a kids show, although Sentai is known to be a bit darker. Cursing and actual [frick]in deaths.

I think this explains everything. I found this comment on Facebook, and it's perfect:"Also to all the people telling them to stop, you're idiots. Yes you have outgrown the show but its not targeted at you. Telling PR to stop is like telling Sesame Street to stop. We are talking about one of the largest and longest running live action, action show on children's tv. A franchise that is now two decades old and holding stronger in a world where most shows do not last a season. Its one of the longest running shows on TV in general. That should be respected even if its not your cup of tea. PR instills great lessons and values and entertains at the same time. Do not hate just because you out grew it. In the end it makes easy money and they would be stupid to stop."
