Chris Evans is looking pretty repulsive in this new poster for the mutant rip-off movie PUSH.

This movie looks like a pretty fun movie. And I like the fact that this movie isn't based off of anything. It's nice to see that for a change. But still, I love comic book movies a lot. And I'll probably love this one since it has to do with people and superpowers lol

i actually like the idea of this movie
its not based on any comic book so there are no limitations and comparisons to the literary origins
plus I like chris evans and thought that the fact that FF sucked ruined his ability to act in a successful Marvel picture.
Im glad he found a 'superhero' movie that he can do well in.
On the bad side, I dont like Dakota Fanning but the trailer does make her seem less annoying.

See this is a movie that could possibly have potential, but could also bomb greatly. And this one's lookin like it'll bomb pretty hard. The story seems shaky, the actors are lame (Dakota Fanning?) and it seems like a mindless kinda action movie, but of course, we'll have to wait and see.

X-men laid the groundwork for normal people having extraordinary abilities, so yeah, you can pretty much say anything like that is inspired by them :)

Is Carrie based off of X-Men? Over time there has been so many more movies about telekenisis... I really don't beleive Stephen King ripped off of X-Men... The theory of telekenisis has been arround for ages, and studies started in the 1800s and beyond. X-Men did not invent people moving shit with their mind.... Sorry. I don't think this is an X-Men knock off at all. It looks like a cool movie about telekenisis, and not a squadron of mutants, each having their very own special abilities, outcasted from the world, going to a private school, warring with each other, and wearing matching outfits. Tell me... Was Akira copying off the X-Men? That Professor X! The first psychic in existence!!!

I think this will be a tad better then Jumper. Man Jumper was a great concept, and it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. It was a rental, and now it's burried. I'll see Push in theatres though.....Nah....Rental...

In today's world you would be very hard pressed to come across a concept that is completely original. Chances are whatever you think of has been done before somewhere else.

Comparing "Push" to the X-Men is a little unfair since the similarities are so incredibly minor. It would be like accusing every superhero that could fly of being a rip off of Superman. If the line stops at the power, then really, it's unfair to call it an X-Men rip off. If they're bald, in a wheelchair or hobble around in crutches because of gammy legs and happen to be rich, then yes, is starts to look like it's borrowing too much from X-Men. But it's not.

What they've done is take, say, Nate Grey (X-Man) and divided up his individual abilities that his power grants him. One guy will be able to move objects with his mind, the next will be able to place thoughts in someone's head or another can wipe a person's memories etc. etc.

If you really want to draw parallels of this film to comics then the theme would be more closely associated with the Weapon Plus Program, but like I said before, no matter what you've thought of, chances are someone has already done it before you. It's all about how well you can bring some of your own individuality to it without trying to be a poor man's version of your borrowed inspiration.

That said, there are some strong names in the cast, it could be worth checking out.

Maybe in 2010 we can get Jumper vs. Push

Has anyone drawn the comparison to Heroes, yet? Mental abilities? An organization set out to find out more about them? Possibly extinct them? X-Men is a stretch, but I found this concept to be very similar to Heroes.

It's tough to tell whether or not someone "ripped off" an idea. C'mon, you've never had an idea only to find someone has already done it? That doesn't mean your story can't be told.

If Batman were the only dark psychopath (I say this literally, I'm not mocking him) dressed in black with no super powers, where would The Punisher be?

...and if you want to talk heroes let us not forget 4400

Heroes ripped off 4400. "With this shot anyone can get super powers".

this poster looks like they copied Havok's image from his first appearance, and what city is this.. just one car on a 4 lane street? one terrorist and a by-stander? He doesn't seem to be using all that strength, he seems to be just standing, sort of a bad mime acting as if pushing a wall (I can picture the photoshoot, "Push Chris, push like you mean it, your life depends on it".... he probably looked with a WTF look on his face. "Give me intensity, push hardeeeer").

Lol, besides that I do think it could be cool, and I see fewer similarities with X-men, I see more with Gen-13 (which took x-men and gave it a twist). I do agree with weaponx that most human creations are based on taking what has been done before and giving it a new twist, either because technology allows it or because it mixes two disciplines (stories, ideas, theories, etc) that no one thought of mixing before. This isn't new, this has happened all through human history redoing what was done before with minor changes.

ROFLMAO A7, transporter, jumper, push, flyer, thinker, walker, dancer, runner, builder, cleaner, cooker, pisser....
