NEW Trek Trailer!

Heres the new Star Trek trailer..I still think the casting is a bit off and that "Why are you talking to me maaaan" line still makes me shudder but it does look pretty good regardless. Enjoy

cant wait cant wait. this is going to be better than all 3 new star wars movies put together! which isnt hard, i shouldve used another analogy.

Im sure it will be better than them betty! Im not happy about a few things though, Spock sounds faaar too girly and..well...gay!(not that theres anything wrong with that!) but he should have a deep commanding voice..and dont get me started on Captain "90210" Kirk. I just hope the performances are good enough to mask this brain fart casting

I know what you mean Ror, but this gave me shivers all the way through it. I cannot wait for this to come out.
I'm even having a Star Trk movie marathon with a couple of my mates the week before to get in the mood.

KHHHHHAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!

This movie is going to be AWESOME!

but yeah, the casting still looks a little bit iffy.

Wow that looks awesome, but he must be a bit cocky to put himself forward to be captain lol :). Another thing although this sounds stupid and cheesy I swear that line means Eric Bana is Kirk's dad!!!! Possible spolier I think not lol, but anyway!!!!

I've noticed that when he talks, "Captain Kirk" (don't remember his real name) does kinda sound like William Shatner...but only a little bit.

Why does there to be some sort of love interest between Kirk and Uhura? I know they kissed before, but, he was under mind control, its not like theres anything there....now that I've seen Watchmen, I can worry about Star Trek sucking instead

As u can probably tell, I am TREKKIE. I think this will be great, but honestly as I've said in the past I am ready to move on passed Kirk, & TNG.

Shaman its been a while, hope all is well.

I'm baaaaack! Did anyone miss me? I know I sure did.

Anyway, I'm anticipating this, not becasuse the cast is great or anything, because aside from Simon Pegg as Scotty, the cast choices leave me wanting. However, as a huge Trek fan, I will definitely welcome this adaptation with open arms, and if it disappoints me, I will shit on JJ Abrams face.

So I'm sitting here as it's glitching out waiting for the thing to load so I can watch it without it skipping all over the place, and I'm freaking out I want to see it now!!!! lol. For some reason I can't hit the pause button either to let it load all the way..

Looks like this is actually going to be quite decent...casting choice for spock was impeccable....but we'll see how the movie itself does...i hear Mr. Shatner was peeved about not being given a cameo in the movie...LMAO...Thank God

Tobuttica - 3/6/2009, 12:59 PM
Wow! I don't even really like Star Trek, as a whole, but this movie looks pretty bad ass!! I'm very excited to see this.
SirExcalibur
SirExcalibur - 3/6/2009, 1:12 PM
Shatner should have been Kirk's Father in this, I would have screamed like a little girl lol. And Shatner wasn't peeved, he actually said he wouldn't have done a cameo because he didn't feel it would have fit into what JJ Abrams is doing. Either way I just watched this a few more times and I can't wait to get my outfit together for opening night ;)
Tobuttica
Tobuttica - 3/6/2009, 1:12 PM
Shatner is THE Kirk, but he is by far not a good actor. Just my opinion. I know I'll get berated for that, but I don't care. A lot of the Trekkies make a big whoopdeedoo about Shatner being such a great actor. I'm sure JJ Abrams knows what he's doing by not putting Shatner in it. He probably only wants real actors for the movie.
SirExcalibur
SirExcalibur - 3/6/2009, 1:18 PM
Yeah I'm pretty sure most people feel that way about his acting. But I myself just happen to love it. I have Star Trek the original series season 2 and some of the episodes are really intense, I just love Shatner. That Shakespearian acting is amazing IMO. I can't wait to see how these new actors do, I think it'll be great. Sulu looks intense about to bash that guy with whatever it is he's holding lol
loganoneil
loganoneil - 3/6/2009, 1:28 PM
The way I heard it (confirmed by miltiple sources) is that Shatner was belly-aching about not being in the film but Nimoy was (never mind the fact that Kirk DIES in 'Generations'). He claimed that Kirk was 'resurrected' in HIS books (even though the cannonization is in question), and therefor he HAD to be in the film. He bitched so much that Abrams actually wrote a part for him. Shatner read it, didn't like what he saw (it didn't fit into 'his' vision), and cooked up the whole 'didn't fit into what Abrams was doing' thing. Abrams said, 'Fine, if you don't want the part, then we're going with the original version'. NOW Shatner's HURT that he's not in it... TOO BAD big boy! You should have sucked it up, swallowed your pride and taken the role the first time 'round!

Hey spock and Ion :) Been a while because there isn't much to talk about lately that really makes me passionate. I like Star Trek and this movie does look good but i was always more of a Babylon5 kinda guy. And i think it does suck a bit that Shatner won't be in this one because i'm actually a huge fan of his "cameos" everywhere. Even more so than what he ever did on Star Trek LOL But that's just me...i know LOL. Tell you what though, i can't WAIT to see him in FANBOYS!!! Now that's gonna ROCK!!! :))
Neo24real
Neo24real - 3/6/2009, 1:42 PM
LMAO..thats crazy....Shatner should have jumped on any role written for him...its not like he has studios waiting in line to give him roles...i'm not much of a star trek fan so...w/e i personally think he should have done it for the fans i know a bunch of them will be disappointed ... i think the movie will be bad ass though...its funny how scottie and sulu are like comedians even the new kirk character, wasn't he on that stupid lindsey lohan movie...LMAO...i just hope they make a good transition..
Shaman
Shaman - 3/6/2009, 1:56 PM
Oh don't fool yourselves, it will definitly be "Star Trek: the TEEN years" (can't wait for they're brilliant explanation for that one). But putting that aside, it really does look decent. More so than any goddamn "x-men:first class" concept would.

But wait i saw a young scott(cyclops) in the new wolverine movie my question now is how are they going to pull this off...so wait he had contact with logan way back when and in Xmen 1 to 3 he acts like he just meets logan...hmmm..even talking about it is confusing..lol

Never been a star trek fan but i've been watchin the show since i was born. My father was a big fan. He gave me my first Vulcan death grip when I was two. Remembering the shows and watchin the trailer makes me want to go see it. I always like a good origin movie.

this does look actually good, until you see the cast and then it sort of drags you down. But the effects look extremely good, the story... not sure, can't hollywood get past the coming of age stories in sci-fi movies? still hopefully it could bring a new take on it.

mm, just a thought maybe this is the movie that could make some Star wars fans Trekkies? funny how most of the fans of one franchise looked down at the other, but they are really not that similar to begin with.

Man, this summer's box-office is going to be a battle worth watching.

I'm not a huge Star Trek fan, but when I saw that trailer before Watchmen it made me realize that movies like that are made to be seen on the big screen.
Matowar
Matowar - 3/6/2009, 6:42 PM
I have a question, if Kirk became Captain of the Enterprise when he was still younger then why on the first episode of Star Trek was Captain Pike commanding the Enterprise? But with that being said I do want to see this new film although Im not a "Trekkie" I do enjoy the show and films. Im kinda hoping for a really wicked twist like Spock reveals himself to be Sylar and lets everyone know that he has been mind controlling everyone and thats when we all relize it is a Heroes movie and not a Star Trek movie. Thats the kind of movie twist thats like getting kicked in the nuts...twice!!

Holy Christ.....
Looks to be the best one yet (at least visualy)...
First movie I ever saw was the first star trek, then star wars, then star trek, then star wars, and I think the Dark Crystal slid in b4 the next batch of star trek and star wars...lol

i was still single digit years old, but remember it well.

Did anyone else notice that the theme song is exactly the same as the new Batman Begins/Dark Knight theme. Frickin' ridiculous.

This trailer does look good, even though I'm almost as tired of the Star Trek franchise as I am of Star Wars. The effects looked great, storyline and plot has yet to be determined, but I have to say a lot of the dialog sounds too "currently hip" or slang, and the acting looked a little iffy.
Looking forward to seeing Watchmen on IMAX tomorrow!
