Kyle MacLachlan Would Be Open To A Return To AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

He may be very busy promoting Pixar's Inside Out and prepping for Showtime's Twin Peaks revival at the moment, but Kyle MacLachlan has revealed he would be happy to return to Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. in the future. Hit the jump to see what he had to say...

The second season of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. managed to transform a struggling MCU spin-off into one of the stronger comic book adaptations on TV. One of the season's biggest highlights was Kyle MacLachlan, who played the role of Skye's father, 'Calvin Zabo' (a.k.a. 'Mr Hyde'). The emotional finale appeared to conclude MacLachlan's time on the show, wrapping Skye's family's story arc - but, as the veteran actor explained to Collider, it may not be the last we'll ever see of him:

"They’ve left it open. We haven’t really spoken about it, so I don’t know what to expect. I think they left the door ajar for him. He’s still around. He’s in a happier place now, but who’s to say if that’s going to remain that way. I don’t know. It would be fun. I would enjoy it."

With Season 3 set to take a different path and focus more on Skye and Coulson's team of super-powered individuals, it's unlikely there'll be any room for Cal during its early stages. However, the cast of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. is always constantly changing and expanding, so don't rule out a return for MacLachlan at some point next year - perhaps in a 'guest star' capacity.

Would you like to see Kyle MacLachlan return to
Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., or do you think Cal's journey on the show is complete? As always, be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below!

He was one of the few things that was good about the season.
So I could enjoy his return, I hope they go further with Kree and Inhumans.

Loved him in the role! I'd be okay with him returning, but I'd also be more than content with leaving him in his happy place. Might just be my GoT fatigue speaking... :/

@aXe

I just looked up when Inside Out is going to be released here in Germany. [frick]ing October...

He was one of the greatest thing in AOS S2. Sure will be a great thing to see him back.

But now that they have given him a 'sad' yet happy ending...it will take a highly creative idea to bring him back.

No, his story was tied up pretty nicely. I want a new villain(s) for season 3.

While at times he could be alright, for the most part Cal was a pain to watch.

And in a show that has 90% of the characters down right dull, you don't need someone annoying.

@dopemaster

I agree, I really expected him to go full Hyde and become this hulking, raging beast but they never really delivered on the promise... I mean this was a guy who decimated the entire population of a village? He seemed barely a threat at all, he looked like a hunchbacked Cro-magnon at best.

No clue, it's like that sometimes. But yeah, based on what I've seen so far it does look like it's going to be worth the wait. :)

His character was handled pitch-perfectly from start to finish and they gave him am excellent sendoff. Anything more would just be icing on the cake.
