JAMES BOND: It Sounds Like The Next 007 Could End Up Being Played By A Non-White Actor

There's a pretty obvious desire to see some diversity brought to James Bond's world and now a new report reveals that one of the franchise's producers is finally open to casting a non-white actor for 007.

For years now, fans of the James Bond franchise have lobbied for Idris Elba to be cast as the new 007. Unfortunately, now that he's 45, it seems as if the moment may have passed but that doesn't mean another non-white actor can't take over from Daniel Craig. In fact, a new report claims that longtime producer Barbara Broccoli is finally open to the idea of taking the iconic spy down a different route.

Equalizer 2
director Antoine Fuqua reveals that he recently spoke to her about casting a non-white lead in the series and claims that Broccoli told him "it is time" for a person of colour to become the new James Bond and said that casting "will happen eventually." Here's where things get a little muddy, though, as many outlets are reporting that Elba is now being eyed to suit up as the next 007.

In reality, Fuqua just praised the actor and said that he has the right qualities to play 007 so I'm not entirely sure how that turned into him being lined up to star as the next James Bond! There's no denying that he would be a great fit, though, and he doesn't look like a 45-year-old man so here's hoping he's at least considered. What do you guys think? As always, share your thoughts below.

Okay, cool. Nothing about bond says that he has to be white. Elba might be a little too old but has the chops for sure. My money is on Tom Hiddleston though

@Bokis - Yeah I don't mind either way. It's a shame well never get a lando movie, because Donald Glover killed it. He's like a black james bond, suave, debonair and deadly.

@Bokis - Actually, Ian Fleming sketched and wrote a very detailed description on what Bond looks like and who he is. His look is based on a mix of himself and American singer Hoagy Carmichael with cold eyes. Based on his sketch of Bond, Timothy Dalton is probably the closest to looking like his original design with Daniel Craig coming in second.

@Presto76 - Donald Glover would be like the parody black Bond. Elba is better suited for the actual Bond imo.

@bcom - Exactly.

He even based his Bond on the classic novels.

NB4 all the "If you don't like this idea your a racist" comments start popping up.

I'm a black guy, and I love James Bond, and Idris Elba's one of my favorite actors.

HOWEVER, I honestly would love if they could make a new character who was Black and Suave, possibly british, who was his own bond.

You know, instead of making Captain America Black, you have Black Panther, we have our own captain america.

Rather than make Kingpin black, you have Tombstone in L. Thompson Lincoln, who feels and is more dangerous.

I just think that with all the Jason Bourne's, John Wick's, and even Jack Reachers going around that have been big hits

it's our day/time, and we could have our own legitimately good POC leading man in a bond-esque format...without having to be Bond.

I mean Denzel's already slated a character in the Equalizer, imagine if we had that.

That's my opinion anyway.
