As both a film fan and Green Lantern fan I thought the movie was decent. I didn’t love it, but I can’t say it was a complete waste of my time.
I felt like the director should’ve had more experience because there were some scenes that could have looked great on-screen but failed to do so due to direction. And the graphics looked amazing only a few times instead of blowing my socks off throughout the whole thing.
As for performances, I personally loved Peter Sarsgaard portrayal of Hector Hammond! There was something about his tone of voice that just made me feel bad for the guy…he didn’t feel one dimensional and developed quite well in my opinion.
As for all other characters, Blake Lively wasn't quite the right person to play Carol Ferris. Sinestro should’ve had way more scenes because he is, all in all, a very important character in the Green Lantern Mythos. But Mark Strong was still badass nonetheless :D Tomar-Re and Kilowog failed to evolve as characters, but still cool to see in live-action!
And I don’t know about you, but I felt like the Guardians were wayyyyy to stiff!!! They didn’t move much or even seem like powerful beings, they just looked like some old people in long robes lol
And let’s not forget Hal Jordan himself, RYAN REYNOLDS.
Didn’t love him, didn’t hate him. He had some good scenes…SOME. But I think what might have needed work was the script, not necessarily Ryan himself.
And we cant forget about the film's score! I hated it! Seemed very cheesy, reminded me of the Superman movie's score. For example, when there was something heroic happening the music got louder and "triumphant"...:/ Shouldve been better, like how The Dark Knight and Spider-Man's scores fit the movies exceptionally :)
And as for the ending…SPOIL ALERT IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE MOVIE YET!
Sinestro putting on the yellow ring was awesome for me because he’s my favorite character in the Green Lantern series…but it needed to be MORE EPIC!!! It felt kinda random especially to those who don’t read the comics. And especially since Sinestro showed respect to Hal at the end! Doesn’t really make since why he would turn evil after that.
BUT OVERALL
3.5 out of 5 stars :)
p.s. When my sister saw Sinestro put on the yellow ring (NOTE: she never read the comics or was familiar with Greeny) She said “I knew he looked like the DEVIL!!!” lol ;)
