JACKPOT Writer Marc Guggenheim Reveals Whether He's Hoping To Direct That Movie Or PROPHET

We recently learned that Marc Guggenheim is writing the screenplay for Jackpot, and he's now revealed whether he wants to direct that or the Prophet movie he's also been linked to as a writer...

Marc Guggenheim is a prolific writer who has pretty much served as the Kevin Feige of The CW's Arrowverse. Now, he's making his directing debut for upcoming Legends of Tomorrow episode, "The One Where We're Trapped On TV."

Of course, now that Guggenheim is no longer serving as Arrow's showrunner since the series ended, he has quite a bit more time on his hands. This has led to him signing up to write both a big screen adaptation of Rob Liefeld's Prophet, and Spider-Man spinoff movie, Jackpot (a character whose comic book series he also penned).

During a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Guggenheim was asked if he would be interested in directing either of those projects, and admitted that, "I think I'm pretty far away from being able to direct a big budget feature film. That said, I am very, very interested and really quite frankly, desperate, to direct another episode of television, and one day I would love to direct something that I've written."

"I wrote a spec pilot during the quarantine that is designed to be produced in a post-pandemic world, with all the limitations that we know are going to be involved. I could definitely see myself directing that."

Based on these comments, helming either one of the movies above clearly isn't an option for Guggenheim right now, but there's still a lot he can bring to the table as a writer.

Are you guys excited for Guggenheim's take on properties like Prophet and Jackpot?

I think having a tv show like Legends of Tomorrow could work well at Sony. They already have interesting characters that could fit in with a team-up tv show (like Jackpot)

Let him direct Jackpot- that way Sony and their SPUMC can crash and burn all the sooner. Not saying I know he’d be a bad director- I know nothing about the guy- it’s just the inexperience. Of course, no matter who Sony chooses, they’ll do what they always do with these movies and characters.
