So I'm really not into the whole casting deal because until its official there's no big reason to freak out. But I found this link where actor Anton Yelchin (Chekov in the new Trek) is up for Hal Jordan. Your thoughts? My immediate thoughts are no, he looks too weak.

If this is true I loose faith in humanity as well as any higher power. No Viggo either. Love the actor! but not Hal Jordan. Viggo is too old. If you want a continuity between movies then you will need a younger actor then Viggo. It will takes years for WB to complete a congruent series of interlocking films and the actor has to stand that test of time. His character in Lord of the Rings could but Viggo is only an actor. It would be too difficult to get him in the right shape for the movie when he is about 60.
And personally I want to see a great series of movies with the same cast.
Effe no for all the actors mentioned above. Again, I freaking loved Viggo in LOTR! Aragorn is kick @ss!

Viggo should be the Green Lantern if they ever make a Kingdom Come Movie. Otherwise, he's too old.

I like the way you're thinking, MoonDoggyX. I just don't think Common is bankable enough for a tentpole project like this. They'll prob wind up going Will Smith if John Stewart is the sujbect.

Morris Chestnut is a great idea too. I think he's a severely underated actor. He was GREAT in the movie "Half Past Dead" as a bad guy. The movie blew chunks, but i couldn't believe how sold i was on his part. The line "I'm a Sociopath, I could kill anyone and not feel a thing." Then he murders his right hand man and smiles, was classic.

I'd agree with your Chris Evans choice too if he wasn't already in the universe (as Human Torch). He'd make a great Kyle.

chris evans would be a fantastic choice for either person but they probably wont cast him b/c he already has donned the F4 symbel as Johnny Storm and thats a Marvel character to boot.

they should just do open casting and look for an unknown, that way they have more of the budget for the special effects, which considering it's the Green Lantern are going to be numerous and expensive.

Viggo? Common? CHRIS EVANS?????????? God, no!!! WTF is wrong with you guys??? Chris Evans is the biggest tool on the planet. NO WAY. If you want a young Hal Jordan, you have to go with someone younger. joob234 is right about the guy playing Kirk. Mortensen is way too old. He would be good for Jay Garrick. Him or Ed Harris would be perfect for Jay Garrick. Sorry, i got side tracked.

Why not David Boreanz for Hal or Ryan Gosling?

Apparantly Gosling and Emile Hirch(thank god!) turned down the role! can you believe that??..well [frick] em...ive never seen this Yelchin guy in anything but he looks AWFUL for the part..Viggo would be perfect for the older Hal but since they are obviously casting young id say Clive Owen would be great..or or Eric Bana

Sucks that Gosling turned it down, I didn't hear that one. I thought he'd be pretty good for Hal Jordan if you're planning an origin story. Maybe he's holding out for the Riddler in Nolan's next batflick. That would be just as good IMO. Emile Hirch couldn't wipe his own arse, let alone wear the power ring.

slimybug - Fillon might not get a fair look. He's got some cred in the community due to Firefly, but I doubt the studio sees him as a box office winner.

If they ever do Kyle Rayner, it should be the guy from 10,000 B.C. and The Covenant, Stephen Strait. He looks a lot like Kyle from the Rebirth series, drawn by Ethan Van Sciver.

I always thought Kevin Smith got the best out of Matt Damon. "Lion face, Aaah! Lemon face, Ewww!"

Boreanz voiced Hal Jordan in the JL New Fontier movie and I thought did really good. But the WB is gonna put some money in this one, make it a big summer action flick. I just can't see them handing the keys to Angel from Buffy.

But really, who can deny Damon's powerful turn in Team America World Police.
